Black Eyed Peas Make History With "My Humps"

"What you gonna do with all those lumps" is probably one of the corniest lines ever from a song, but it's also so unforgettable that you can't stop singing it. Yes, welcome to the world of the Black Eyed Peas and the song "My Humps." When you first hear the song you think it's totally wack. But you'll soon find yourself dancing to the beat as Fergie and her Black Eyed Peas band members "get you drunk inside my humps, my humps my humps. My lovely lady lumps."
Like the song or not, it has now made history as the most downloaded ringtone ever. "My Humps" has been downloaded over 2 million times, beating out Gwen Stephani's "Hollaback Girl" for the title.
"My Humps" is the longest-running hit from the triple-platinum smash hit record Monkey Business, which has sold more than six million plus copies worldwide. The album was released in June 2005, and has spent thirty-nine weeks on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
It became available in August 2005 as a ringtone for mobile phones via all US wireless operators. In October, the video for "My Humps" began a six-week stretch at #1 on numerous charts, helping to sky-rocket the sales of the ringtone. "My Humps" is also the most recorded song. A search on youtube.com will find thousands of kids who have remade the song and posted it to the video site.
The Black Eyed Peas are currently getting ready to go on tour with the Pussy Cat Dolls and Flipsyde. They will kick off their tour on March 23rd at the Sav-Mart Center in Fresno, and wrap up May 21st at Universal Lending Pavilion in Denver. It makes me want to cry, that people like this bag-of-wank record, song or ring tone. They should all be shot.
i thought this song was a joke when i heard it included in a verizon wireless ad until someone told me that this was a real song...well, real "song" in the loosest possible definition of the word.
What this implies to me is that there are two million people who want to hear this song as often as possible.
I'm going to stick my head in an oven.
What would truly be making history would be if the Black Eyed Peas were to ever write an actual SONG.

funny thing is... i've never even heard this song. i almost went to go look up an mp3 of it, just to hear it. i've heard it's absolute trash, and yet it is also extremely popular. no big surprise there, but people have very violent reactions to it.
i don't feel that i am particularily cut off from pop culture... if you want to avoid the song, do what i do: don't watch cable. don't go to the mall. don't listen to the radio (other than a college station or something). i can't think of any other reason why i haven't heard it.

I think people have such violent reactions to it just because it's so blatantly sexist and so lacking in any real songwriting skill. Sad. Very very sad.

I think it's wonderful that women with physical deformities, such as humps (the poor girl), can still be interested in maintaining a sexually active lifestyle.

big pile of crapitty crap. this music is really written for tweens with undeveloped and underdeveloped taste, who at this point in thier lives usually only care whether a song is danceable, catchy and if the lyrics are easy to sing to/memorize. The record companys/labels and bands that are in it for the bucks, dont want the ignorant general public to know that this is the demographic that these songs are created for--they are the "sophisticated" boy bands--The music industry will never cease to come up with more ways to pull the wool over the eyes of the masses. Consume More Crapola!
Hey folks wake up to the fact that you can't please everybody.Music taste is changing relative to times and new generation of listening audience.Sounds most av u an oldie ,then stick to knitting and listen to classics of 50's n 60's classics ,hahaha.
Great tune , catchy, up to date , people still look and observe the opposite sex these days, as far as I can tell. If there are a few people who cannot identify with the song for one reason or another, obviously these people are not attracted to the opposite sex by logical conclusion. So lets judge the song based on elimination.

I personally, would not even think of making a negative comment on anyone's song, until after identifiying to the fact that I have sometime in my lifetime made and produced a record, meaning , money first then , writing the song , putting music to it. producing, distribution, promotion, marketing, road shows, and reading the critics and comments. I must admit, this song is the one which has made me sound more like my parents than I can ever remember before--"my gosh, how can these kids listen to this garbage?!" My oh my!
