<description>You&#039;re right, Sterfish, about the Academy unfairly snubbing genre films. I don&#039;t have an easy answer to that - it&#039;s true in the Emmys too, where a show like Battlestar Galactica isn&#039;t likely to get many nominations. I do like the Globes&#039; division of drama and comedy/musical, though of course it&#039;s far from a perfect system either. 

Even though I thought the wrong film of the trilogy ended up winning Best Picture, I was happy the Lord of the Rings was an Oscar mainstay, since they&#039;re not the kind of movies they usually recognize. Baby steps, I guess. </description>

<description>I pretty much agree with everything you put.  The whole supporting versus lead thing kind of irked me when Jamie Foxx was nominated for supporting actor for Collateral.  

I&#039;d change wish #3 to &quot;Respect the genres.&quot;  Frankly, the Academy awards don&#039;t like to nominate comedies, sci-fi/fantasy, horror, or action regardless of the quality.  I really hate the assumption that a dramatic performance is automatically better(or more difficult) than a great comedic performance.
