Published March 01, 2006
Nominated for Best Picture, Good Night and Good Luck follows the story of legendary journalist Edward R. Murrow (David Straithairn) during his on-air confrontations with Senator Joseph McCarthy. Music plays an integral role with its jazz soundtrack featuring three-time Grammy award winner Dianne Reeves.
Director George Clooney hand-picked the songs to be featured in the movie which are included in this collection. With each track Reeves shows why she is one of the preeminent jazz vocalists today. She even puts in an appearance during the film.
Her first studio album since 2003, Good Night and Good Luck showcases her vocal talents in a way that no other album could. Clooney was wise to select Ms. Reeves as her voice helps to set the tone of the entire film. The CD is rounded out with other great jazz songs of the time and captures the essence of the film.
More than just another movie soundtrack, this is really a jazz showcase featuring one of the best vocalists around. This CD will make an excellent addition to any jazz fan's library.
