Big Money To Advertise During Super Bowl

Millions of people watching the Super Bowl this Sunday, with many of them paying more attention to the commercials rather then the game itself. For many, the big-win will go to the best commercial.

Among advertisers shelling out $2.5 million for a 30-second spot during the big game:

  • Pizza Hut - will show the sexy, sassy Jessica Simpson to pitch for their latest pizza innovation.
  • Pepsi - has teamed up with hip-hip icon P. Diddy and Jay Mohr to persuade viewers to reach for a can of Diet Pepsi.
  • GoDaddy.com - After being rejected 5 times, Godaddy's Superbowl ad was finally approved. The commercial will feature WWE Diva Candice Michelle again this year, and are sure to turn some heads and have teenage boys across the nation running to their computer to download unedited commercial footage.
  • Ford - is to use Kermit the frog in a play on words (of the word green) to promote their new hybrid vehicle.
  • GM - on the other hand will be advertising its new gas guzzling suv, which reportedly will appear as a runway model.
  • Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company - will have sex icon Fabio rowing a gondola, and includes him aging before the viewers eyes into an elderly Fabio gondolier.
  • Mastercard - pulled MacGuyver out of retirement for its latest "Priceless" spot.

The NFL will even reportedly have the commercials available for free on their website. However, if you can't wait WSLS, reports that the comercials will be available on-line at ifilm.com before the game is even over.

Interestingly enough, ifilm.com doesn't have permission to put these commercials on-line but think about it this way: When you turn on your TV this Sunday, every 30-second commercial costs $2.5 million. So for advertisers, having their commercials online is more bang for their buck.

Another site that I found while researching this story is superbowl-ads.com. Unlike ifilm.com, which for now still has last years ads online and viewable, superbowl-ads.com is a blank page (at least in Mozilla) waiting until the appropriate time to show all the commercials.
