Frontline Follows the Life of Country Boys

This Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Frontline is devoting nearly six hours to exploring the lives of two teenage boys growing up in Kentucky in Country Boys. If you can't watch every night, each night's program will also be online the next day.

Documentary filmmaker David Sutherland had previous done Farmer's Wife for Frontline (the first hour of the program is online). In this documentary, he spent three years, from 1999 to 2002, following Chris and Cody. The time spent with each of them really allows us to get to know them and their families.

And with all of the recent controversy over the portrayal of Christians on television, the documentary focuses on Cody's faith (there is an interview
with the pastor of his church).

After you watch the documentary, there is video about how it was made as well as more video and information on the pages on Cody and Chris. Sutherland will participate in an online discussion on Wednesday. (It will also be archived).

Steve Rhodes is a journalist and photographer in San Francisco.
