Chasing the Roswell Alien, by Glenn Marcel, is the second novel in a series in which a magazine writer hunts down the truth behind a well-known legend. In this case it is aliens in Roswell, New Mexico. More specifically, it is Area 51, where a spaceship was thought to have landed with extraterrestrials aboard. As our country's leaders scramble to get a tight lid on the operation, the press and the country's citizens are making another decision. With all the cover-up going on, it could not possibly be what is being reported to the public.

So a couple of reporters from the Associated Press are sent to find out exactly what is going on. Needless to say, few people are willing to tell anybody anything.

This is where Melissa Vaughn steps in. The magazine she writes for, Weird News, has its basis in the odd or unusual. In a way, it is not unlike The Onion or Weekly World News , tabloids found in your local supermarket. Most who read understand that there is no basis in fact, but want the pure enjoyment that comes from thumbing through the pages.

Conspiracy theorists and historians will especially enjoy this book. At the beginning are some famous historical figures who encounter some mysterious circumstances, such as Thomas Edison and Amelia Earhart. In the book, these famous people have an experience with an alien, evidenced by the number '88' marked on their bodies.

Ana, the character readers will discover is Amelia's daughter, has an 88 tattooed on her as well, but she obtained it from a tattoo artist.

The conclusion is not one that readers are going to expect.
