A friend at work let me borrow the Firefly DVD set. After watching the episodes, I gave it back and bought my own set. It now has the honor of being the only DVD set I've ever purchased. I look forward to watching the whole series over again. It'll help me resist any fleeting temptation to give any more of my money to the studios flooding the theaters with crap these days.

I only saw a few of the episodes because I figured it'd be cancelled.
But I love Wheedon's writing so I'll probably definitely check this out.

The movie is an excellent complement to the series. I greatly enjoyed it.

I suppose one could appreciate the movie without having seen any of the TV episodes, but I am extremely glad to have waited until after seeing all of Firefly (including, especially, the episodes that never aired) before I saw Serenity. I'd still have enjoyed the movie a great deal for its own storyline, but it has many subtleties I would not have been able to appreciate without the context provided by the series.

The consistently great storytelling and character development in both of these, combined with the studio's utter failure to support the series and nurture it into a much longer production run, followed by the studio's utter failure to support the movie and nurture it into earning a series of sequels, has cemented my conviction that today's entertainment industry is largely under the control of absolute morons.

Yes that'd be great.
How does this movie compare to the Firefly series?

How about a transcript please? I'm on dialup and I don't have the time or patience to download videos.
