Meg White Makes Movie Soundtrack Debut
Published November 02, 2005
Comedian, writer, and director Bob Odenkirk has contracted Meg White of the White Stripes to play the theme for one of the characters in his forthcoming film You Are Going to Prison, set to release in 2006.
What's that? Just Meg, without Jack? Indeed. According to calendarlive.com, part of the LA Times, Odenkirk is a big fan of the White Stripes drummer and wanted to give her a chance to show her stuff without her recording partner.
Odenkirk and the film's composer, Alan Elliot, flew to Detroit to both pitch the idea and, after she agreed, to record the segment. The trip is chronicled in brief, complete with photos, at Elliot's blog.
You Are Going to Prison stars Will Arnett of the cult TV show Arrested Development. He also served as narrator for the weirdly wacky film Series 7, a play on reality television. The forthcoming film is based on a book by Jim Hogshire and centers around a career criminal and a rich guy who are put in the same cell in prison.

Of course! I'm just happy to see her getting some positive press instead of the usual crap wherein people dis Meg as just riding on Jack's coattails.

Jack White + Meg White = White Stripes = Good
Jack White = Good
Meg White = Probably Good Too
