New Album Releases, Week of 11-1-2005

Top likely candidate among new releases this week, Public Enemy's New Whirl Odor hits general release after a month as a Best Buy exclusive.

Burt Bacharach has a new album, At This Time. Buyer beware, however. The Amazon listing does not list this as "copy-protected" but note the first customer comment that indicates that it apparently is.

Johny Fogerty is back on Fantasy records, and thus The Long Road Home: Ultimate John Fogerty Creedence Collection is his first comprehensive career hits album, including his solo stuff.

70 year old Bobby Bare is releasing his first album in 20 odd years, The Moon Was Blue. This guy was big cheese in his day. Also, I'm glad to see someone covering "Yesterday When I Was Young," which is an underappreciated classic composition.

Ozzy Osbourne has a new album of covers, imaginatively titled Under Cover. The song selection is at least somewhat interesting. The idea of Ozzy covering King Crimson in particular strikes me funny, but then he might actually could do some good with "21st Century Schizoid Man."

Unreformed hawkish Hoosier hillbilly and sometimes candidate Al Barger runs the still squeezin' down the psychodelic Kentucky moonshine at MoreThings.com, what with the paranoid religious visions and the Pentacostal music and visions of God and anarchy running amok and such. Somebody oughta call the cops to report his out of control freedom of conscience. Till they come to take him away somewhere where he can't hurt anyone else, you can check out his weekly column of NEW ALBUM RELEASES.

You left out:
Imogen Heap - Speak for Yourself
Downtempo, Pop, Trip Hop

Fans of Frou Frou should definitely pick this one up (after all, Imogen comprises half of Frou Frou and is just as brilliant solo).
