==========
POLITICS: Lisa McKay's Picks of the Week

There was a lot of interesting reading in Politics this week, particularly with regard to the nomination and subsequent withdrawal of Harriet Miers. As always, Blogcritics' own political pundits covered the stories from every angle.

Al Barger got all prescient on us in Harriet E. Miers and Blood in the Water, where he told us before Miers did that her nomination would be withdrawn, and filled us in on why the right wing just wouldn't get on board.

Humor writing is probably the hardest type of writing to pull off well, and to do it well in politics is harder still. While most of the writing on the Miers story was of the serious variety, ProgressiveDepot made a lot of readers laugh out loud in First Draft of Harriet Miers' Withdrawal Letter Found.

A look at what has been a very rough patch for the President and his supporters, Is the Bushites' Day of Reckoning at Hand?, by Natalie Davis, nicely chronicles what might well be payback time for the Commander-in-Chief.

CULTURE: Lisa Hoover's picks of the week

The Lures of the "Online Predator by Fighter, Oct. 23
Fighter outlines more than 20 different ways online predators lure their adult victims. This is a great read for anyone you think might be vulnerable to this kind new kind of danger.

Lists: It's Not Who You Are, But Where You Are by Gypsyman, Oct. 25
Gypsyman says that every time you turn around, someone's put together another "Top Ten" or "Top Twenty" list for some topic or another. He thinks we can do without all these constant "Best of..." lists. That's a great point so that's why he makes my...um...list for this week.

Everytime You Add a Movie To Your Queue An Angel Gets Its Wings by Tiffany Leigh, Oct. 25.

Cool, it's nice to be surprised when I go visiting people's sites and see the button there being "worn" proudly.
