His aim is to make a flat-out scary funny gorefest with a no-doubt-about-it R-rating. The Dawn of the Dead remake was very very good, so I'm hopeful that Gunn knows his craft. It's sort of like when Office Space and American Pie came out within a month of each other in January and February of 1999 - two R-rated comedies that were unapologetic about it. The days of the self-referential horror movies are long gone, and even the J-horror remakes are getting a bit long in the tooth, so maybe Slither will kick-start the genre back into a more entertaining orbit. 262018@blogcritics.org Thu, 27 Oct 2005 10:50:06 EDT
