MUSIC: Matt Freelove's picks of the week
CD Review: Kanye West - Late Registration by Modern Pea Pod, Sept. 28
Newcomer Modern Pea Pod scores a home run in both of her first two reviews for Blogcritics. We'll go with this one, where she dissects Kanye West's new album, and comes away with mixed feelings.
Bob Dylan's Finger of Judgement by Al Barger, Sept. 28
Al Barger digs deep into Dylan's repertoire to examine Bob's favorite subjects: politics and morals. I guarantee you that Al's former Indiana Senate opponent Evan Bayh cannot write music criticism nearly as well as Al does. Music trumps politics 100 times out of 100. Take that, Evan.
Review: Iron Maiden, Death On The Road by John Owen, Sept. 28
John Owen gives the new Iron Maiden live CD a spin, and comes away more than satisfied.

BOOKS: Pat Cummings' picks of the week
Review: An Irritable Man on The Irritable Male Syndrome by Tim Gebhart, Sept. 25
With remarkably little irritation, Tim rebuts Jed Diamond's treatise on IMS (notice the parallel to PMS there?) Plus, I'm always impressed when an author checks into the discussion that follows a review. Diamond offers his comments on the syndrome and Tim's classic pan of it.
Banned Book Week September 24 to October 1, 2005 by DL Ennis, Sept. 26
You may be surprised at some of the titles under fire - I know I was! DL Ennis gets top marks for catching this, and for the added value of trends and changes in the banned-book movement over the last few years.
Review: Get Your Own Damn Beer by Laron Cue, Sept. 28
You may think I picked this for the gorgeous photo of author (and actress) Holly Robinson Peete, and you might be right. But Laron's review has a great, breezy tone that suits the topic well, and he gives some great examples to provide a feel for the book he's reviewing. And, okay, the cleavage on Peete doesn't hurt.

DVD Review: The Man Show by Chris Beaumont, Sept. 29
Chris Beaumont - I didn't intend to pick his reviews two weeks in a row, he just happened to find the perfect Christmas present for me to give my sister and brother-in-law.

Thank you very much! I don't know what to say...

Wow, two picks in two separate categories in the same week. Rock on ...
Thanks Lisa and ... ummm ... Lisa! :)
To all the authors chosen: keep up the great work! We truly appreciate your efforts!
Thanks for the nod guys! This was a fun one to write, once I got into the book. I look forward to you thoughts on the upcoming reviews.
See ya!
Thanks Joanie! It's nice to get this over something that's simply fun.
Survivor... RAH!
Two picks from Chelsea, both nominated by an editor named Lisa.
I have a running theory that all Blogcritics editors named Lisa are the same person.
Thirty Helens agree.
These are some great posts. I'm glad there are so many super-good articles showing up every week. Keep up the good work, folks!

Thank you so much. I can do many things better than Evan Bayh, I might add. For starters, I still say I could take him in a cage match.
