A Television Viewer's Diary: 9/11-9/17 by Chris Beaumont, Sept. 19
Next up is Lindsay's brother, Chris, who seems to wander all over the TV dial. Catch his weekly wrap-up, including a few premieres and, believe it or not, a season finale.

CULTURE / TECH: Lisa Hoover's picks of the week
NY Times Skewers Media Inaccuracies In Katrina Coverage by Bird of Paradise, Sept. 19
By now we've heard the stories of unspeakable horror following Hurricane Katrina. But was everything we heard true? Bird of Paradise says responsible readers will figure that out on their own.
NASA Shows Off The Next Generation Of Space Craft by Bennett Dawson, Sept. 19
Bennett Dawson always keeps up with what NASA's up to. This week he gave readers the scoop on what's next for space exploration, complete with cool pictures and everything.
The Voice of God by Mark Schannon, Sept. 21
Mark Schannon knows God must be talking to someone. He just can't figure out who.

POLITICS: Lisa McKay's Picks of the week
(Natalie Bennett fills in while the Lisa's gambol and galavant. Well, something more important than that, most likely.).
In an article titled "Why Liberal? A Toothless Manifesto" Douglas Anthony Cooper defines himself as a liberal, in his terms "a person reviled by the left, and despised by the right" , but worries that he can't come up with a more exciting hero than John Stuart Mill. The problem is, he suggests, is the extremes get the wild, seductive characters. (September 21)
In "Bill Clinton's racial demagoguery on This Week with George Stephanopoulos" Al Barger is deconstructing an interview with Bill Clinton, saying he is indulging in cheap, ugly racial demagoguery. "This is Bill Clinton's idea of being an elder statesman," he concludes. (September 18)
Finally, in the "news you can use (if you choose)" category, Taloran reports on how you can find out the source of the gas at each pump, in Boycott Saudi Oil. This is for the US; does anyone have the same information for other countries? (September 20)
EDITORS PICKING EDITORS
We separate out any picks of other main editors to keep the spotlight on the contributors.
Pat Cummings chose this post from the Books Section
Lolita Babes: Immorality Versus Art, 50 Years On by Temple Stark, Sept. 20
This meta-commentary on the perception of Nabokov's controversial novel - even by those who have never read it - is worthwhile as much for the discussion that follows as for Temple's musings on the topic.
Lisa Hoover chose this post from the Culture / Tech section
Myst Creator Cyan Worlds Folds Dr. Pat Sept. 19
Dr. Pat ruined my day when he wrote that the creators of the first computer game I ever really loved closed their doors.

Thank you, Joan!
Has a brother/sister combo ever made it to the Picks in the same week before? :)
Thanks for picking my Clinton analysis, and special thanks to Shark for his poem in comment 129. I made a whole little separate article of it. That Clinton scares the bejesus out of me!
Also, I particularly second the choice of Schannon's "Voice of God" article. Outstanding choice.
Then again, I've got my own ideas about the voice of God.
Congrats, everyone. Are the weekly picks indexed somewhere?
"My biggest fear in life is to be average." - M. Night Shyamalan, writer and director
Someone let M. Night he should be getting
afraid right about now.
Thanks Lisa. If I ever figure out how to talk to God, I'll put in a good word for you. Although it hurts to be serious, it is an honor & I appreciate it.
After much sturm and drang, I got the pic & a link on typepad although it's not as pretty as I'd like. I thought blogs were supposed to be easy, lol.
Just read Al Barger's comment & his blog. Thank you, sir, for your kind remarks.
However, you don't seem to allow comments on your blog, so I'll have to leave them here.
Ayn, oops, sorry, God said she'd given America everything it needs to defend itself--but she hasn't given us the brains to do it wisely. There was a very disturbing series of articles in the New York Times Magazine one or two weeks ago--since you have to buy the articles in their archives, I can't even get the correct issue.
Anyway, it's not how we defeat terrorism, but how & the Bush folks, at least according to this article, have been playing right into Osama's hands.
By odd coincidence, I started reading Sheehan's "A Bright & Shining Lie," realizing I'd neve read it. The parallels between Vietnam & Iraq are very disturbing. We never seem to learn any lessons.
Enough said...this ain't the place for debate.
Misery loves company, Lisa -- I wrote the piece to share my pain with readers who could mourn with me. Thanks for the nod, but I wish I had never had this news to write about...
Thanks Lisa! I hope the news from NASA continues to be good news.
Mark, my "voice of God" column is also here at Blogcritics with an open comments section. CLICK HERE
You are of course welcome and encouraged to leave comments there, though there might likely be some columns of mine better for foreign policy type criticism. Perhaps THIS ONE.

Color me chuffed. Thanks vm Pat.
