Although our city is better known for its go-go, the truth is, DC is the breeding ground for some of the finest hip-hop ever produced. The city is the home to such diverse groups as Asheru, Kev Brown and Defined Print. Head-Roc has been representing the DC scene for over 10 years, and many have called him the "mayor of DC Hip Hop."
Head Roc started out in 1994, with the hip-hop supergroup known as Infinite Loop. However, it was with another DC band, Three Levels of Genius (3LG) that allowed Heady to rock stages with such notable acts as A Tribe Called Quest, and RUN DMC.
After dropping the critically acclaimed The Return Of Black Broadway, in 2004, Head-Roc returns in 2005 with Negrophobia!, which takes a critical look at the racial divides that still exist in our society.
In this Podcast, Head Roc talks to Miss Hipstah about the origins of Negrophobia, the DC hip-hop scene, his influences, and the problem with hip-hop politics.
Head Roc's newest CD Negrophobia is available for sale online and he'll be touring the West Coast during the month of September. He'll also be featured in the Operation Ceasefire concert with Thievery Corporation.

Fascinating stuff! I wish guys like Head Roc got more airplay on the top 40 than Fat Joe and various other party-people.
I enjoyed your last interview a lot, so downloading now.

very cool interview. folks who think that hip hop is nothing more than bling and flashin' thongs should listen to this guy.
