VIDEO: Eric Berlin's picks of the week.
Great Era for TV by Chip Ross, Aug. 21
Chip tells us why 2005 is a great time to be alive... TV-wise.

Review: Oldboy by Tom the Dog, Aug. 23
Always check out a film review that tells you about a "Kafkaesque opening..."

Review: Columbo - The Complete Third Season by Bill Wallo, Aug. 24
It's always a joy when Bill checks in with a Video review. Delve into the "Columbo mystique" here.

Reality Show Humiliation: Part One by Scott C. Smith, Aug. 24
It's a ride into the center of the American zeitgeist by way of reality show hell. Enjoy the trip!

==========
CULTURE/ TECH Lisa Hoover's picks of the week.

No Liquor in My House by Bird of Paradise, Aug. 25
Bird sparked a great discussion when he told readers his home is an alcohol-free zone.

Bonk me with a female cortex: Men have higher IQs than women by Adam Ash, Aug. 26
Maybe so, but we have better navigation skills.

==========
BOOKS: Pat Cummings' picks of the week

The Pathfinder: Action, Adventure and Romance by Alpha, Aug 21
There are two reasons to read the books of James Fenimore Cooper, according to Alpha: They are thrilling adventures, if a bit challenging to read, and they help us to understand the kind of heroic men we need today.

New edition of The End of Oil raises red flags by Fred Bortz, Aug 21
With gas prices soaring into Oil Embargo territory, the tocsin sounded by Paul Roberts in his interpretation of the Hubbert Peak sparked a lively debate in comments about whether we're coming to the end of our global oil resources, and when.

Review: Himalaya by Michael Palin by Deano, Aug 25
A multitude of well-chosen links raises this review above the mainstream. Deano opens the richly-illustrated Palin travelogue to Web readers with links to sites describing or depicting Himalayan rivers, people, and the mountains themselves.

==========
POLITICS Lisa Iannucci's pick of the week.
None submitted.

MUSIC: Temple Stark's picks of the week

CD Review: The Quags - Devil's Music by Wally Bangs, Aug. 25
Ah the missing link of music The Quags - suspiciously similar to "quantum" in an evolutionary quagmire of critical morass.

Kanye West: Late Registration, Early Review by Matt Mrozinski, Aug. 23
A fair assessment of a musical artist who we see evolving before our eyes. Someone who has skills, but hasn't quite figured out the best way to use them, it seems. Matt brings out the mixed signlals that the new album brings; no sloppy review kisses; no undeserved vitriolic review attacks. A fair and intriguing assessment.

HONOURABLE MENTION
Review: Gary Numan and Tubeway Army - Replicas by Mike Fournier, Aug. 25
In full confession mode, Mr. Fournier lays claim to both being a "cranky old guy" and a Gary Numan fan. If only everyone could bare their soul's with such aplomb.

I'm going to add a couple more under Music but I have to play chauffeur now.

#2 — August 29, 2005 @ 12:45PM — DrPat [URL]

Driving Lisa I, Temple? [grin]

Maybe we should ask Eric Berlin and Dave Nalle to each propose a post from Politics for the week...

#3 — August 29, 2005 @ 12:48PM — Temple Stark [URL]

I forgot to add my Kayne West pick, I just realized.

No driving. That's SOP. One editor for consistency's sake. Being away happens.

#4 — August 29, 2005 @ 12:49PM — Temple Stark [URL]

kanye .. my fingers are tired. sheesh.

#5 — August 29, 2005 @ 13:28PM — LegendaryMonkey [URL]

You should go to bed earlier, my dear Mr. Stark.

#6 — August 29, 2005 @ 13:34PM — Temple Stark [URL]

If I crash the car, I'll think about it :-)

Otherwise typos I can live with. Obviously or I'd be dead.

#7 — August 29, 2005 @ 14:28PM — Matt Mrozinski [URL]

Thanks for recognizing my post as an Editors pick of the week. I've had enough of these articles written without a honest and fair review. If an Album is bad, its bad for a reason. You have to judge it on those reasons, as well as presenting the positive. You shouldn't judge a piece of work on your biased opinions. That's tabloid journalism and it's not beneficial to society.

#8 — August 29, 2005 @ 14:30PM — Kanye West [URL]

"Now all I need is y'all to pronounce my name. Its Kanye - But some of my plaques - they still say Kayne."

#9 — August 29, 2005 @ 15:10PM — Eric Berlin [URL]

Thanks for stopping by, Kanye.

#10 — August 29, 2005 @ 15:12PM — Temple Stark [URL]

Comments 7 and 8 were Matt M. Lil' scamp.

#11 — August 29, 2005 @ 16:19PM — Matt Mrozinski [URL]

What are you trying to say Temple? What are you implying, my dear man?

hehe, Thanks for the Pick.
-Just say no to Critic Crap

#12 — August 29, 2005 @ 19:02PM — Scott C. Smith [URL]

What a great surprise to be selected as an editor's pick! Now that I've gotten the serious writing out of the way, it's time for reviews of pornography! Yee haw!

Just kidding, about the pornography. Or was I?

#13 — August 29, 2005 @ 19:06PM — Temple Stark [URL]

If there was a synergy here between these two following comments, I missed it until just now :::

>>I'm going to add a couple more under Music but I have to play chauffeur now.

If there wasn't - all the more hilarious.

#14 — August 29, 2005 @ 21:17PM — alpha [URL]

Thanks. I needed that.

Also surprised anyone else likes Fenimore Cooper. I thought I was alone.

#15 — August 30, 2005 @ 00:04AM — Deano [URL]

Thanks for the pick Pat! By way of your comment on links - I include multiple links to related topics and websites in all of my book reviews (hence, the name of my site - BookLinker).

Nice to know somebody enjoys them!
