This kind of thing only enhances the horror surrounding this case. What does this post do but add to the suffering of the bereaved (thankfully, I'm sure Natalee's Mom and family do not have time to be reading blogs right now).

The media is spending WAY too much time covering this case. People go missing all the time, every day. People are killed all the time, every day.

Why is one cute young white chick from Alabama so important (in the MSM's eyes), and all the other cases so unworthy of mention (again, in the MSM's eyes)?

Ask yourself why when a hurricane hits mainland US and Fox has to pull their Satellite truck from Aruba, why all of a sudden the family has video phones given to them so Fox can maintain direct live video contact?

And while I wait for that answer, answer this. Why should anyone care about a girl who was so stupid she decided to galavant around a foreign country just hours prior to leaving said foreign country instead of planting her ass in her hotel room preparing for an early flight home?

News by definition should be new. The media are acting like jackasses about this.

I know August is a slow news month. But news can be found. Send someone to Botswana to find out why one in four adults has AIDS, and what is being done about it.

I just want to ask , does this girls parents bare any resposibility for what happened here? Is it not irresponsible to send a teenager to a foriegn country to drink at clubs and party till all hours of the night with no supervision. What parent in there right mind would do that , especially with a little hotty like this girl. Everyone always likes to put the blame on others in a case like this , but I beleive some of it rests squarely on the parents for letting her go in the first place, hell ,why didn't they just give her the keys to Mike Tysons room while they were at it. And many of you are correct is she was not a blonde babe we would have no story here, thousands of woman go missing in America every year. But i stand by what I said , in a day with roofies ( I do not know the spelling) and predators, and everything else, a teenager no matter how adult they think they are, are whofully unequipped to handle evrything that can confront them out there. How many of you would send an underaged daughter to go drink in clubs in another country with nobody to keep tabs on them. I believe the mother should face charges.

This case is different from other missing persons cases. This poor family is dealing with a corrupt government that is covering up some of the facts. I truly do not believe it is getting more attention just because she is white. This kidnap/murder did not happen in the US -- it happened in a FOREIGN country. That makes it very different than other missing persons cases.

I still can't figure out why everyone is so upset that Natalee Holloway is getting so much coverage. The poor girl has been missing for 80-odd days...and she deserves to be found. What if she's not dead...she could alone and scared, and keeping her in the media keeps her fresh in everyone's mind. Without the media coverage, people would tend to forget about her, and then, maybe, she will never be found. If I were lost, I would sure want everyone in the world to know so that the search could continue to find me...even if I were dead. If media coverage is what it takes to find Natalee, then so be it. Stop all your wussing would you? There's plenty other tv shows you can watch...if you don't like the Natalee coverage, don't watch it...simple enough. This morning I went online to find out the latest on the case and all the search engines come up with are a CRAPLOAD of sites with people complaining about the attention Natalee is getting. Don't give up. If it were not for you this case would have been swept under the carpet. Those three boys and Paul know what happened and were any remains may be found.

I really do believe that if it were my child missing I would do the same dang thing! I would not rest until my child was found. I'd shout it to whoever would listen and I would NEVER give up. Natalee's parents are keeping this thing alive, and also stupid people with stupid remarks like....I think she just ran away...well why do you think that? Oh no reason just a feeling! Duh A policeman saying that stupid remark. The ignorance in this case has baffled me. I'm not even a detective and I know that the evidence must be collected right away! Why hasn't anyone said anything about the adult chaperon's that went with this group for a senior trip?
Had someone say that those adult's just happen to go along but weren't supposed to be watching the kids. I don't buy that for a NY minute!!
Any of the parent's who agreed to allow the kids to go without any chaperon's would be in a nut ward tomorrow and any senior trip I have heard of they have had some type of chaperon along.
Maybe if the adult's who went along with or "just happened to be along",would have made sure ALL the kids were in at a set time the night before they were to leave, we wouldn't be having this convo!
How could ANY of them in the group not know Natalee didn't show up to room long before they were in the air on the way home?
That is what has me confused. It just doesn't sound right that this girl just vanished and the people who put the "senior trip" made no plans for the safety of these kids!

Isn't that why we have American's Most Wanted show, and other show's to get a missing person story out for the public to help?
It's not like the story is taking over any of the reality Tv show's, or god forbid Soap Opera's. If it will help bring closure to this family then who are we to begrudge them of that?

We have a mother who lost a son to the war camping out at the Bush ranch and she is held up as if she is a hero, yet Natalee's mother is getting slapped in the face for fighting for her daughter who did NOT volunteer for combat!
Something is wrong when people lose their compassion for children (and Natalee is still a child) and the danger they are in!
Some think that because Natalee happened to be blond and blue eyed, she is getting more media attention.

What about the little girl in FL that was lost by the child protection services and later found to be dead? She happened to be black and got lots of media attention.
The little black girl from Kansas that was found dead and head chopped off, she got mega media coverage too.
So get off the race card, it isn't about the color of the skin but about the simple fact a human being happens to be missing and a family wants answers!!!!!

If it is not about the color of the skin and just about the kids, try getting some publicity for these kids

the way the U.S.A. deal with missing persons is very good as there is the amber alert which is buts inturupts the radio and tv there is nothing like that here in the UK if a child goes missing we have to wait to hear it on the 10 o'clock news or in the next days news papers which by that time vital information is lost. It is terrible that all these small minded people have to gripe about the media attention that is going on in aruba, when it is the family strength that is keeping the story alive to help find their precious daughter, whatever the out come.I just think that all the people complaining about this either dont have family that love them enough to look for them or thy dont love thier own familys enough and obviously would give up without a fight. so you see it is nothing to do with the coulour of your skin its all to do with one familys love for thier daughter. i do hope that natalee is found soon, my love to the family.

Exactly right!!Where were they? They were the ones in who all the parents put their trust in to make sure that their kids were ok. If the chaperones were where they were supposed to be, watching the teens....none of this would have happened. I have been watching this from day one and there have been reports that Vandersloot has been known to put date rape drugs in girl's drinks.

if you read Dolly's post, in the UK they don't have the amber alert and have to wait until the nightly news or morning for the newspaper. So, it isn't about the color of the skin but about how the information is able to get out when a child is reported missing.
Another thing on the AMW show they do post pictures of missing children, the court tv site has missing children section and some tv show's like Law and Order missing (or something to that effect as I only watch it once in awhile) also show pictures of actual missing kids at the end of the show.
It just so happens that Natalee's family are able to speak with the media more than other's right now and it is a big american vacation attraction where she went missing, so it will get more coverage.

Mark, the simple answer to that is when you are in another country one has to follow the law's of the land they are in. Am sure several folks from Alabama would love nothing more than to wisk those boys off the island and bring them to the back woods area's to give them a good interagation but that isn't about to happen any time soon.

i think it is tracigic that AAMAN can use this as a colour issue, when it is so obviously NOT, because when there is a racial issue most people dont sympathise because of people like AAMAN shouting the odds as he has nothing of importance to say. so he uses this to be heard, now AAMAN if you feel that the children do not get enough media play start shouting about something of importance then people will listen. Ms. Holloway has been in the news for months now. She is now almost certainly dead.

In those months, the media COULD have brought attention to all those other "missing persons" who disappeared during that time. Perhaps if they had done so, they would have solved a crime or two, or maybe even saved a life.

Instead, the media is STILL focused on a likely-dead cute white chick on an island paradise.

Yes,Natalee has been missing for over 80 days and has gotten media coverage but so has other high profile cases.

You are so right about the homeless person who came up missing...There wouldn't be anyone to raise hell. If they cared he wouldn't be homeless! Duh...If your family raises enough stink they will get coverage. Look at the newly married couple and the groom winded up dead on the hooneymoon. His parents didn't want to be interviewed! These people could have been on the news every night if they wanted to, but didn't. It's really hard to open up your life to the media. Who knows what they will use against you. Some people want to shout it out and others just want to be left alone with their grief. You really never know what you would do until it happens to you, and I pray that it never does. I don't think it was a cute thing, or a white thing. I think it was just a horrible thing that happened to a teenager, and it's pissing people off.....the way Aruba has handled the case. If you have heard the interviews with the police, then you have seen ignorance at it's best.

Oh one more thing! I live in Alabama 20 min. away from Mountainbrook, and I never hear anything about Natalee, unless it's quick mention on the 5:00 or 10:00 news.

Tina, I too am in Alabama in the florence area and have to look to the net to get info on the case if I want to know. That's even when I turn on cnn or other news channels, usually it's the war getting the most coverage.

Tracy, I live in Pinson/Trussville area, and isn't that weird that we don't hear much about Natalee? Every now and then I will hear about a fund raiser or something. I too have to look on the internet to get info. I was just as concerned about Shasta and Dylan and the little boy that was lost in the woods (the scout)that they found...thank God. Every time I hear something like that I just start praying really hard. This case is crazy because Aruba has screwed it up so bad, and people are mad at that.

i have a quick thing to say about the natalee holloway case and the the race issue.i feel very bad that she has not been found and my heart does goes to her family.now the race issue.i do believe that the media seems to follow white missing persons cases more than minority cases. and i'm not saying this because of the natalee holloway case. i bet you half the people on here do not know about Latoiya Figureo the 24 Latin/African American mother from Philadelpia,PA who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend on i believe August 18 2005 and did i mention that she was 5 months pregnant? now tell me the media is fair..i would mention more cases but i just dont have the time

I did hear about the pregnant woman from PA, and the father stated he wanted justice for her death. I pray he does get that as this woman and unborn child didn't deserve the way their lives were taken. Makes me spitting mad when guys who don't want to take responsibility for laying down with the woman but want the pleasures for doing so. Her family went through hell until they found her body, it will never take the pain of losing her away but at least they are not going to bed and waking up not knowing where she is. I believe she had a hand in them finding her as did Lacie Peterson.
I also just read about the woman who admitted to killing the little girl in FL (who the state was supposed to do monthly checks on said child but failed to do so) might get out as early as May. Now isn't that just SICK, she can get out and possibly kill more children. Life isn't important any more to some people I guess. Sad really, really sad.

Tracy...I'm really not sure that I would want to know, that my child was murdered in an awful way. If you don't have a body then you at least have some hope that just MAYBE they are alive. The nightmare of having to identify your child's decomposed body is more than I could bare.

I understand where you are comming from, I don't think I could handle having to ID the body. The not knowing is what I was talking about. It can destroy a family and leave life long scars. The always looking, thinking about where,when,how, what if, maybe's are something of nightmares. Yes, there is hope when no body is found, but the stress of not knowing can do so much damage to parents and family members.
I as a parent can't deal with not knowing how my son is doing while in school and I know he is safe there (for the most part), I would be non functional if he were missing.

Every single total idiot that has written a negative statement concerning this case needs to have the exact same thing happen to them, but then grant them their wish of "No news coverage"!

Thanks dolly, we got hit with strong winds and rain but all is well here now. Sad to see the destruction and loss of lives, unbelieveable what is going on and I never dreamed I would see the devistation in such a grand manner.

a young girl, regardless of color, religion, etc. is missing. Respect should be shown not only for her but her family. I also do not believe it is an issue of race...I believe also that it happened in another country is why it got so much attention and her Mother wanted her missing child to be found and within her grief found the strength to not let her daughter's case "go away." It appears to me that Natalee was an innocent naivete young teenager away from home for the first time. Young people tend to trust their peers. She had met Joran the night or day before in the casino, he was well kempt and came from an influential family and thought those were credentials for her safety. Most teens are like that. If anything, the school should have had chaperones or some kind of Buddy System to help guard against something like this. But as Natalee's Mom Beth says, the blame game will not bring her precious Natalee back. That is wasted negative energy that could be channeled into more poisitive areas such as more resources into finding Natalee, as her family had done. Some posts I have seen on other sites talking negatively of Natalee in a very disrespectful manner, well, I wonder about the mental health of such people. How would you like someone talking about your child like that? Also, as one person posted, we do not know the details and maybe she was given something to make her let down her defenses more readily...I ask God's mercy on Natalee and her family...they are only doing what any of us would, or should do,to find a missing child.... in the same circumstances I pray I would have the same inner resources of strength that Beth Twitty has to find her daughter and to keep her case alive within the media: because that is ultimately what will bring more eveidence forth about the case.

well i'm from the Caribbean and i know how important our tourism industry are to us btu i must say crimes happend everwhere therefore there are no reason why people should descriminate against Aruba..i mean come on!!!...i feel for Natalee family after all i'm human but that's life maybe it was God's time for her..i just do not like the way it happened....i strongly believe that the police up there are very worthless or maybe the juge could have paid them off since i fing it very stupid of the way the carried out this case...the government of Aruba need to improve in the policing standards of in a fews years to come the total tourism industry will decline tremendously....and that will be a real disaster if you know what i mean.

I have been actively keeping up with the case. Let's admit, we know a lot of our friends who have gone on a senior trip and had a little too much to drink. Think about it...drinking is all but promoted in Cancun, Mexico, Bahamas, Etc. So please give this girl a break. I had my experience on my honeymoon and fortunately, someone was looking out for me. This girl does not deserve all this criticm for herself or her mother. I think that it is wonderful that this case is still receiving publicity. More power to them...if we had someone in our family missing, we could only pray to keep this going....it keeps her alive and everyone aware that this is someone's child or loved one and she is a normal teenager that deserves to make mistakes, as every teenager does! I envy the parents because they have the time and strength to keep the media going. It shows to me that they love Natalee and want answers. These laws in Aruba are unacceptable...I personally feel that there is a conspiracy involved. While I do feel that Beth Twity has not been forward with all of the information....perhaps it is because a lot of things are still under investigation...such as phone calls that she made to friends the same night, friends that actually saw her, etc. I do think that there are a lot of things that have been said, but quickly swept under the rug...maybe because of investigations still going on. I don't know what happened to her,but by now we are have to agree that it does not look like she's coming home.It's really sad because she is missed so much.Some one knows something and its just a matter of time.But when they do catch whoever was invovled in her just never being seen agian,I hope they put them in the room with Beth.If somebody killed my child I'd waut to be left alone with them.Beth is not going to stop and this is not going away and I don't blame her.She needs this to be over for her too.Maybe something will turn up for them real soon.!Kym

Wow you people are sick....Marc you are an idiot and you sound ridiculous....Why isnt this girl sitting in her room waiting to leave on her last night of vacation????HMMMMMM!!!!!She was 18 years old!!!! She just graduated high school, she was on vacation having a good time...I dont know what happened that night and i dont know why you people think you do either...How the hell do you people know if she left with these guys willingly or not, were you right there with her?!?! I think not....And she was hanging out with them all night at the bar, one was younger than her....maybe she thought she just met some nice guys. And its is the media sooooo much because its an INSANE SITUATION!!! I think that Sloot made a horrible mistake....i dont think he was like im gonna kill this girl tonight but i do believe something happened and went horribly wrong....His father is important in Aruba, hes a judge and i dont know what happened but i think he called his daddy and his dad helped him cover it up....Aruba didnt want to look bad so they hoped it would go away but it hasnt, Thanks to her parents.
