This was, by far, the saddest episode I had ever seen of the Real World. It left me in tears.

I feel for the guy, I really do...the regret and guilt he feels will haunt him for a long time. In that last call to his mom he was so cold to her, even when she said she loved him he didnt say it back. He didnt know she would die a couple days later, but this guilt and pain he feels...i cant even imagine.

This is by far the saddest episode of the Real World or any reality TV ever.

I do think that he wasn't close with his mother. He wasn't very nice to her on the phone call. She said to him "I love you Danny, I love you VERY MUCH" and he just said "bye". I think he will remember that for a very long time.

MTV Real World is sooooo made up. I wouldn't put it past MTV to make all of this up, or at least have a contract with his mother to die at a certain point during the show to get better ratings. She sounded like she knew she would die in the previous episode.

I realy want Danny to return to the Real World Austin. The only reasion i have been watching the show is because i think him Melinda relay had somthing going. they truely love each other. And on the next show melinda gets a e-mail from him saying he dont think he is coming back and she started crying. I hope he returns because i think they have a big future ahead of them and would hate to see it end like that. Danny does love his mom even know he had a bad past with her. i also think its kinda harsh how someone could think mtv made up that fact that his mother past away. He did not expect it. when my grandmother past away last year i had a hard time dealing with it i went up to iowa to take care of her when she was sick and she started to slip in to a coma i new she was not going to make it no more then 3 days. and she didn't. Danny had no idea and was not able to be there for her. He also went out the night befor and had a little to much fun . he got a hang over and thinks its all his falt that he did not get to talk to his mother that morning but its not. I hope he comes around and and is able to see that. The show wont be the same without him he keeps the house going! PLEASE GO BACK TO THE HOUSE THEY NEED YOU!!!

It was pretty messed up when he said, near the end, that he would... "Never ever forgive himself." That was just harsh.

This episode was one of the most tragic ones..it was more tragic..then when that girls best friend killed himself that was like 5 seasons ago i dont remember what season i was like in 4th grade lol This eposide was..the saddest one yet..and it almost made me cry..to see danny cryin...I love him in melinda in there little relationship thing they got going on..and you know he loves her when his mom just died..and she was sittin outside with him..and he said..im not leavin you outside alone..i mean he thinks of that one your mom just died! WOAH, guys, woah. Take it easy on Victor. To be completely honest, I wouldn't trust MTV either. I know what you are thinking: "No corporation is heartless enough to make up something like that," but can you honestly say that the Real World has had a decent season in the past... I don't know? Three years? It's horrible to think, yeah, but they played the clip of Danny on the phone saying, "Dad, you're lying" in EVERY PROMO. They have played this to the hilt. It pulls in the ratings, and that's what MTV needs. I'm sorry if I sound cynical, and I hope if it really happened that Danny has stayed strong, but greed is a powerful motivator.

Just to clarify, no I don't think they made a contract up for his mother to die. Yes, Victor, that is pretty idiotic, but as far as making the entire thing up, and as for this show being completely scripted, well, I'd believe it.

This was a very emotional episode. I think it touched a lot of people. I think the people that made fun of Danny and what happened in the last critique of the show should be ashamed of themselves. They treated it as a joke, but loved ones dying (even if they aren't your own) is no joking matter. I hope Danny comes back to the show.

Made up? Has anyone seen the 'Making of the Bachelor' or reality TV shows? Is it any wonder they inject so much booze, a hottub, close bedrooms, and major metropolises for the taping of the Real World?

Yes, it probably wasn't planned, death isn't planned. BUT, to be on air, all participants must sign a disclosure, a waiver, acknowledging they do so, and that MTV can profit from this. Don't be so naive as to think they didn't have their hands in this cookie jar.

As far as the casting, I'm proud of Danny, as he represents MA, he lives only down the street from and was friends with a crew of mine. That's it. The casting IS the worst. There isn't a person above 25, and it's no different than taping a semester a college.

The drama and life focuses on boozing, hooking up, and jobs, most of which are shirked off because they're as irresponsible as they come. I watched the first few episodes with my girl and found NO redeeming qualities about the show. Period. If you like it, great, but most of it is vapid college drama, and having lived through it, see nothing worthwhile.

MTV should consider wrapping it up after this season.

Just wanted to let you people know,that MTV did NOT make up the death of Dannys mother! I knew his mother and father very well! I went to school with his mother and knew both of them when they were dating. It's a very sad but true story. And she did pass away on Valentines Day. As far as Danny returning to the show, you'll just have to wait and see! I just wanted people to know the truth!

When auditoning for future Real Worlds; Know that if you have a sick parent, good looks but very insecure, are black with a chip on your shoulder, slightly misfit, have a huge smalltown college ego without the good looks, gay, or just plain willing to humilitate yourself knowing that your grandparents will see you have sex after a drunken evening with your castmates at the local redneck bar, where you are taunted by jealous rednecks. You are what MTV wants. The more pathetic the better.

Of course he'll be back. He's tight with his pops, and he will coach him that "this is what mom wanted you to do" crap, and at the end of next week's episode you watch...he'll be back. This year though has less drama then any other year. They all get along extremely well. Not quite like the Slapper Stephen (irene deserved it...she sucked) or Drunken Ruthie episodes that I remember from the past.

Danny has to come back to the show. He hasn't even experienced anything yet. First he gets socked in the face and needs surgery and he can't go out. When he recovers, he gets to go out one night then his mom passes away. Poor Danny. He's got to come back. Melinda loves him. You got to come back Dan. Do it for your mom.

I lost my father three years ago suddenly of a heart attack. I was out of town when I got the phone call that he had passed. Their is no way to explain the feeling that you have when you lose a parent. I had a really hard time watching this episode. It made me upset that MTV would film Danny's whole grievence process, contract or no contract. I dont think that this is a time in anyone persons life that they really want cameras in their face.

From her and on. I think everyone who is now reading this should try to do the following. After reading, Close your eyes, imagine the phone ringing and you pick up the phone, pretend its a close relative telling you: "i'm sorry your mom died this morning." what are you thinking??????????? & how do you feel?????? A: maybe like knives tearing you alive; suffication? I believe that people only learn until they've experienced the death of a loved one, like a mother, father, grandparents etc... lets just quit mumbling ueccessary talk... waste of breath. My friend and I watched this episode and we were crying the whole time. I really hope that Danny comes back because Mel and him need to be together. I know that he wasnt close to his mother but anyone would cry if that happened to them.

i agree, the clip of danny crying was overplayed wayy to much. also, i dont think melinda and danny have anythign "special" going on. remember the very first episode where melinda was showing off her ring and was saying "ill never cheat on my boyfriend?" and then what, the second episode, she was making out with danny. also, danny is from a small town and hasnt really been exposed to this kind of thing yet. of course, when the "beautiful" melinda (i think shes a slut) hits on him, what else is he supposed to do?

Real World Austin has been, without a doubt, the best Real World yet. Simply because they have people from the "Real World". You have Danny, the All-American boy, and Melinda, the All-American girl, and their ongoing relationship. You have Wes, the partying fraternity boy...Nehemiah, the independent guy chasing a dream...Rachel, the G.I. Jane trying to make her country better...Johanna, the good looking partier...and Lacey, the girl who most would shun b/c she's "different", but you can easily learn from just one episode that she has a really good heart.

Each of these people represent a different social cast for people between the ages of 13 and 30. I think every one of us can relate to someone on the show in some way.

They're not on the show looking for quick fame or to cause drama, and because of that, they have all earned their fame and the drama continues to unfold each episode.

I for one will continue watching, and will be talking about this cast for a long time.

WOW!! Why are people hating on Melinda so much...? I mean she's a nymph ( like she said ) but she would'nt have stood by Danny's side all the time unless she really cared and felt for him. There is some editing with the show, they place sound clips where they did not actually happen. I still think the show is real, but they edit time and placeent to make things more exciting, they do it all the time in commercials, like they will be like "danny gets some bad news" and show melinda hugging him from another episode. When he says i will never ever forgive myself when he is in the confessional then he says the same exact thing when he is hugging his brother back in boston.

This is the best real world season yet! Victor i think that you are crazy....this show is definitly not made up. And the way that Danny reacts definitly proves my point. I was crying through the whole episode. That is so terrible what happened to Danny.
