DNC: Making Quotes Up Out of Thin Air?

Written by John Bambenek
Published July 15, 2005

I just got these quotes re Valerie Plame in an e-mail from the DNC (I'm on their e-mail list). They're below.

Facts:
1) She is not a CIA agent.

2) She was NOC, but should have been taken off when she came back to work in the states.

3) She didn't keep her own career very secret.

4) She did in fact get her husband a job to try to hatchet the President.

5) Every piece of evidence so far indicated this wasn't a leak. At WORST it was a loose tongue. When you want to leak something, you don't wait for a reporter to come call you to talk about Social Security.

Now the DNC, apparently where all disaffected Republicans go to rant about the party, has compiled a list of submissions from their website from self-admitted Republicans. I call BS. Usually when someone starts by saying they are a Republican or Independent and then rails against the GOP, they usually aren't Republican. Of course, no one is identified by full name, so we'll never know for sure, but it is interesting that no one went on record with their full name.

Democrats demanded Ashcroft recuse and have an independent prosecution, now that isn't enough. They proclaim a guilty verdict before the grand jury is even done. They want an investigation but then decide that doesn't suit them when the facts change.

Nice try, by every indication of the DNC, looks like there is nothing here.

"I switched to Republican over 30 years ago, but now feel increasingly betrayed by and ashamed of the power-crazy dishonesty and the distorted values of the current leadership of the GOP. Tom DeLay does not speak or stand for most American Republicans. Neither does Karl Rove, who should be fired and severely punished if indications are correct. Can we trust you, Mr. President? Please give us the real, open truth." Jeb E., Palo Alto, CA

"I am a registered and disappointed Republican. Don't make this situation worse - 'fess up and fix the problem." Karen H., Fort Collins, CO

"I am a registered Republican and want this current administration to admit the fault and fire Rove now! Decent Americans lose their jobs over less." Alice C., Wilmington, DE

"I vote for whoever I think will do the best job — Democrat, Republican, Independent — and this is the time for elected officials to do their best job: honor their word, honor their country, and honor those they govern by upholding not only the law but what is moral and right. In this case, it is to remove whoever is responsible for leaking the CIA agent's identity." Nancy O., Van Buren, AR

"As a registered Republican, I join with those that say enough is enough! Time to clean house!" Tim M., Milan, OH

"I am registered Republican. However, the behavior of this administration isn't part of my Republican Party. Start by taking responsibility for both the good and the bad decisions of the administration. ... Mr. Rove has now stepped over the line. President Bush, like his father, needs to request Mr. Rove's resignation." Ed S., Newport Beach, CA

It is time the RING OF FIRE around the White House be put out.

The cinders from the flames is destroying our country, we are not safer , we have been told so many lies that its hard to determine truth from fiction. This adminstration has proven to be nothing but a ring of fire which is being fanned by Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeldt, Rice, Gonzales and the previous members of this white house staff.

He wants only yes people he is only interested in his views to being carried out. Its a death sentence that he gives.

The appointments to stack the courts with judges that will determine and undermine the very fibre of this country. We as Americans cannot allow this ring of fire to control and destroy our freedoms, take our jobs,
and have people in the powers to control our Health Care, Prescrption Drugs, Destroy Social Security, Medicare, National Security is a big risk, the lack of leadership to step forward
and admit they lied and covered up the the facts on Sept. 11, Iraq Invasion, Prison Abuse, the false so called freedom for Iraq people is a lie, bush and his group want to control and decide the fate of their government under their rules.

Iraq is worse now then ever, it has made more terrorits, more Middle East Countries to be afaird that bush will invade them and take over their oil.

Its strange how the murder goes on on Africa and around different parts of the world and bush is not all interested in what happens to those people.

bush does not even respond to the killing of our own sons and daughters, nor does he care of the millions being killed in Iraq.

The true numbers of those killed in Iraq is not posted because bush does not want you to know the truth. Injured who come home with medical problems that will last their life time. The numbers are not posted . Those who serve are blamed for prison abuse they take the fall when the bush and all of them approved of the abuse. Wrong how dare they do this to our sons and daughters,

Its more like 9,000 plus that have died as result of his invasion of Iraq. Those who die on Iraq soil are counted but those who are flown to German with wounds and die are not acknowledged in the count. So stop the lies and impeach Bush and all of them.

Yes the ring of fire is fueled with the lies of this Bush cabinet members.

What is so sad is the Republican party as allowed this to happen, they are cowards who only vote because its a party thing to do. Its not about what is right or wrong or fair or what is good for the people of US or even other countries.

Its all about POWER, CONTROL, OIL

Global Warming is something he will not address nor will others, even when the people who have spend years of research and everyday see the affects of Global Warming the wildlife being affected. Once this is gone it will never return.

Do not try to defend that rove did not know, bush and rove , Cheney they all know who is on the job, its their job to know. So who are you kidding, bush does not need to play dumb nor rove with their tract records of many lies that they continue to tell the American people. Wake up and see the truth, its not about issues its about their control,

Ring of Fire around the White House is affecting every American and the world, We have allowed them to lie, our jobs have been sent overseas, he talks about Private Accounts, Ownership what and how do you begin to do this when you have no job, the job you have does not pay the imigrants that come here are taking the jobs and social security benefits from all of you who have worked and paid your taxes.

Grab a hose and lets get this fire out today we cannot afford to let this fire burn any longer our sons and daughters and the future of our country is on the line.

Congress and Senate that is controlled by Republicans who have made a mockery out of government its about the party gaining control and doing what they want. Judges should not be elected to serve a lifetime and also not appointed beause they will rule according to the party line. People should be able to vote for the Judges, One man should not have the full control of such high court appointments, the people should `have that right.
government. Its not about
freedom because each day they take more and control
your life.

Just for Bambinek, here's the link to a nice Republican that has served in the White House, he's a lawyer, and has been known to do some whistleblowing on ethical grounds. You might remember him, John Dean.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/07/15/dean.rove/

He shows that the Law usually cited may not even be needed. The Bush Justice Department has prosecuted leakers before.

Read the article, think for yourself.

how can we take this seriously when you start out with a "fact" that is so obviously untrue?

"She is not a CIA agent."

The John Dean article is excellent
thanks Maynard.

in other words Karl Rove is toast even if the statute in question has not been violated.

de nada, billy.

What you have to realize about Bembinek is that he could care lkess about truth or honesty. All he cares about is google bombing and bashing anybody not on the Bush team. This drives up his overinflated copunt on his blog, thus making it appear more famous and influential. And then he counts on most people not remembering he was so full of shit in the first place, or that they are dittoheads that agree with him.

Bambineck, your "essay" is about as lucid as a monkey on crack.

This thing should be called, "Bambineck Makes Blogcritics Entry Out of Thin Air".

And once again: typing, cutting, and pasting is not writing.

Bambi, I appreciate your hatred of the DNC, and while I'm sure they spread their share of lies, why do you think these quotes aren't real? Do you have any evidence?

I can go out and find a dozen Republicans who aren't happy with the current administration for any number of reasons. I'm surprised they'd let the DNC quote them, but not THAT surprised. I'm not happy with the administation either, but I'd never let the DNC use it against them, because I'm less happy with the useless opposition.

Do you mean the RNC on the top quotes?

#8 — July 16, 2005 @ 20:01PM — RJ [URL]

"the millions being killed in Iraq"

Loon.

#9 — July 16, 2005 @ 21:48PM — Dave Nalle [URL]

>>bush does not even respond to the killing of our own sons and daughters, nor does he care of the millions being killed in Iraq. <<

Wow, nice math skills. How is slightly under 30,000 suddenly millions? Even the most loony don't go beyond the thoroughly debunked 100,000 figure from The Lancet.

>>The true numbers of those killed in Iraq...Its more like 9,000 plus that have died as result of his invasion of Iraq. Those who die on Iraq soil are counted but those who are flown to German with wounds and die are not acknowledged in the count. <<

Here's a heads up. You've got last month's talking points. The DNC has dropped this claim since then as it proved not to be true.

>>Its all about POWER, CONTROL, OIL <<

Yah, all that oil we're making absolutely sure staus in the hands of the Iraqi people. Get a clue.

>>Global Warming is something he will not address<<

Except in his speech a week ago and in his new energy proposals which have substantial support for alternative fuel R&D and solar energy.

>>Ownership what and how do you begin to do this when you have no job<<

Not only is unemployment substantially lower than at any time in the last decade, but actual employment as a percentage of population is higher, which is unprecedented.

>>the job you have does not pay the imigrants that come here are taking the jobs and social security benefits from all of you who have worked and paid your taxes. <<

Here's a clue for you. The only way that immigrants can qualify for social security is if they also PAID INTO the system.

>>Judges should not be elected to serve a lifetime and also not appointed beause they will rule according to the party line. People should be able to vote for the Judges, One man should not have the full control of such high court appointments, the people should `have that right.<<

By all means let's burn the Constitution and go for mob rule instead, because that's what you're talking about.

It wasn't a very rational or fact-filled comment, Dave. But I'm glad you replied to it and dissected it anyway! :)

Imagine if a Democratic Administration had done what someone inside the Bush Administraiton had done re: Valerie Plame.

Anyone care to expound on the projected reaction of the wing nutz?

#12 — July 17, 2005 @ 01:10AM — Dave Nalle [URL]

Pretty much exactly the same as the current response of Democrats. Which is why this whole charade is so tedious. I've seen it before.
