Joe Wilson Lied In NBC Interview on Contributions?
Published July 15, 2005
NBC's Jamie Gangel interviewed former Ambassador Joe Wilson today. (Click Wilson's picture in the article to launch the video.) This part interested me the most:
Gangel: Your critics have said that this is partisan on your part, that you are part of a Democratic attempt to discredit Iraq policy.Wilson: That's simply not true.
Gangel: You are a Democrat?
Wilson: I exercise my rights as a citizen of this country to participate in the selection of my leaders. And I'm proud to do so. I did so in the election in 2000 by contributing not just to Al Gore's campaign but also to the Bush-Cheney campaign.
So, I checked it out. An OpenSecret.Org search reveals that Wilson's claim could be false. I searched for the name "Wilson" for Gore. It revealed these findings. Mr. Joseph C. Wilson IV of J.C. Wilson Intl. Ventures/Strateg made two, $2000 contributions to the Gore campaign on March 26th, 1999. Address was attributed to Washington D.C.
The same search on OpenSecrets.Org for candidate Bush was ran. It revealed a Mr. Joe C. Wilson of Wilson & Association Engineering, (CEO) came up for a $1000 contribution on 12/15/1999 and then a contribution of $1000 on 8/30/2000. I did some Google searches, but couldn't find the company. I also couldn't find in any biographies of Wilson that he was head of any company, especially one in Tennessee. (and resided there)
Regardless, if he is both of them only at a different address, he showed a preference nonetheless.

are you kidding me. he was RIGHT about iraq not seeking uranium from arfrica. karl rove was WRONG. Karl rove tried to discredit someone who was telling the TRUTH. that makes karl rove even less credible as well as a traitor.
Mmmm...I'm no fan of Karl Rove. I still think he should be whipped out of town naked at the cart's tail just on general principle; but Wilson has also made quite a few ... "mis statements", as Rove would say. The bottom line is you have to really check out BOTH of them & then check again, and still be prepared to find out you're wrong. I've also come to the conclusion that it would be a good thing also to run Novak out of town as well at the same time as Rove.
Problem is, there's too damned many of them deserve to be run out of town. We don't have enough carts....
Joe Wilson could have said the moon is made of cheese. who cares? he was right about the intel at issue. old karl was either wrong or lying. probably the latter. so the gop talking point backfires because the man they are trying to discredit actually was right on this issue.
regardless, joe wilson could be the devil incarnate. the cia agent was still outed in violation of law and motives have no part in this criminal case.
One word about this story: Pathetic.

I cannot understand how someone as phony as Joe Wilson, a so many times proven liar. continues to receive not only not-unfavorable, but frequently even favorable press. Has the media cast honesty and objectivity to the don't-count barrel????
