Regardless, I daresay that Harry Potter has probably harmed far less innocent children than, say, pedophilic Catholic priests.

which is your favorite so far?
Azkaban (the book) seems to be the fave of many Potter People.
that was certainly my favorite movie in the series so far
My favorite, too, both book and movie. I think Rowling's doing a really good job of aging Harry and his pals, and the stories appropriately become a bit darker and more grown-up as time goes on.
So far I believe the third Harry Potter book has been the best however I have not yet read the sixth. The Azcaban movie I believed to be the worst but that is only my opinion.
Well like everyone else I raced off to get my copy of the latest Harry Potter and the half blood prince novel. Rushed home and started reading, I had reached half way through the book and still nothing had actually happened in the book, or should I say nothing that hasn't happened in the other books already. Three quarters of the way through the book and I was beginning to wonder if Rowlings actually gave a damn about the book, or is she wrote it only because she had to. The book is wishy-washy, the story is weak, I found the actions described to be mechanical, almost in a 'walk - stop - turn' tone.
The previous novels had been written in a 'believable' manner, thats why we all bought the second book!. I honestly feel that I wasted my money buying the 6th book, I really believe that Rowlings didn't put her heart into the book and as mentioned earlier, I imagine she wrote because she had to, perhaps her publishers made her write it when she wasn't ready. Who knows how these things work.
For those interested in the 'action' element of the book, skip ahead a few hundred pages, the action is at the back of the book, the last 30 or so pages actually describe the climax of the book, although be it in a very rushed somewhat dis-interested way.
Once again, Rowlings why did you bother to write this book at all, we could have waited another year for something decent to read.
I want my money back!
I was one of the thousands of Potter freaks who queued up at Borders to get my hands on a copy of the latest Potter book. Many of you would have been disappointed but i find the book one of Rowling's best. The death of Dumbledore upsets me so much that i actually cried. Those who have doubts on whether the book is worth your money, i assure u that u will not regret buying it. This is how i rank all the Potter books: 4,6,3,1,2,5. Now if u will excuse me, i want to continue re-reading my book...
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price scores 9 out of 10! Very well written with lots of interesting details. very touching ending. who said the book was bad just doesnt appreciate literature. Rowling rocks!!!
i was so excited about this book but was very bored until the very end. it was like Rowling knew everybody would buy the book just because of the name "Harry Potter" on it so she didn't put any effort in it. This was definatly the worst and most boring.
hey can one of you type a summery of what happens in the 6th book some of us can't afford it until much later
check some of the other Potter threads on this site, especially the reviews (see above) - you can gather just about every jot and tittle
Well, it's true, the pace is different in this last book. It does seem as if nothing happens: no villian like Dolores Umbridge starting an Inquisition and torturing students, no horrible trips to the Forbidden Forest, no in-your-face fireworks. This book is more subtle, and adult. It's counting on readers wanting to know what went on in the past to understand what's happening now. Readers need to calm down and tune in. For example, I thought the trip to Tom Riddle's mother's home was heartbreaking. And seeing what happens to an abandoned child who has no-one to turn to was chilling -- a boy with clinical "attachment disorder," who grows up only being able to connect with other people by hurting them. Those who think Rowlings didn't care about this book are too addicted to action and miss the lessons on the formation of character. Rowlings has put her whole heart into this book, and it's actually all about love -- obsessive love, despised and rejected love, inability to love, the heroic power of love to keep a soul intact and serve and defend others.
I have now finished the sixth Harry Potter book. Yes it was not filled with as much action but the story Rowling ws telling didn't require it. She is writing the book how she calls it and I like it. So sorry if it's not what you were expecting, but I found it wonderful and can't wait until the next one comes out.
i can't wait to get the chance to go to the store and buy this book. i think that all of rowlings books are fabulous. my favorite ,however, is the fourth. nothing could dissude me from buying it. everyone has their own opinion and is entitled to it.
In advance, I apologise for my english as I am Italian.
Harry is not a horcrux. And I agree with most of you : Dumbledore is dead, in order to save Malfoy and also Harry but for different reasons. He loves children and he will do anything to save children. Dumbledore has always very good reasons and very good explanations. He will explain to us and Harry everything in the last book.
And if Dumbledore trusts Snape, it should be enough for me, for you and for everybody. Snape is good! And as somebody posted, he will never forgive Voldemort for killing Lily Potter. Snape was in love with her. And Dumbledore knows that.
For me J.K.R is like Dumbledore, a great Master of Magic! Everything will make sense in the last book and I don't think she will make Harry died as Dumbledore does not want that, and neither J.K.R. Nobody wants that and do not forget this story was firstly dedicated to children. But we all are children a little bit, don't we? :o)
Keep posting, your comments are great and it is fabulous how in critical time, people come together, forget their differences, communicate with eachother, with a great hope of Happy Ending! Because it cannot be differently right? It Harry Potter's great story!
I thought the Half-Blood Prince had the best ending of all the Harry Potter books so far. I thought that by killing off Dumbledore, it will make the 7th book better, because Harry will not have any help from him. I know that many people are angry that Rowling killed him, but think about it, it will make the 7th book a whole lot better. But I never thought it might take place outside of Hogwarts, if they close the school that is. It's true that it was a bit slow in the beginning, but the end is really worth reading it all.
Dying to save 1 or 2 children. an the rest of the world is stuck with voldemort? Anyway no excuse is good to me for writing such a depressing book, and letting all readers wait for 2 years and saying it was all for the good. In these times a mood lift from such an influental writer was most welcome. Indeed readers have the right to be very angry at rowling and her publicer. positive or negative, at least the book should have had a story of its own. Now it is just a very depressing, boring and disapointing chapter.
Askaban is a great read. I would have to agree that it is my favorite. With its description. Although Order of the Phoenix stills leaves a very big impression in my eyes, becasue of how gory it was compared to the other stories.
i agree with many here that book 6 left alot wanting. the only saving grace was the ending. leaves alot of mystery and guesswork that prepares the road to a great book 7. unfortunately that's all book 6 does. by itself, it pretty much is terribe.
my ranking for the books:
4, 3, 1, 6, 5, 2

hey mr. 'u r losers': you're the one who wakes up as early as 6.40 AM to write about harry potter. what's up with that????
anyway, i think that dumbledore isn't dead and that snape really isn't a bad guy. have you ever wondered what dumbledore was mumbling about when he was taking that liquid at the cave??
anyway, i think that dumbledore isn't dead and that snape really isn't a bad guy. have you ever wondered what dumbledore was mumbling about when he was taking that liquid at the cave??
furhtermore, i think that in the end malfoy will turn out to be a good guy as well.
I would like to start by saying that everyone has his/her own opinion. That is what makes everyone special his or her own beliefs. I personally LOVE the Harry Potter books , and the movies. I read The Half Blood Prince in 10 hrs. I could not put it down. Secondly, I would like to state that I love the twists that J.K Rowling puts into her books. I can't wait to see the film, I think of how cool the special effects will be. Finally, I will state that if you don't like it, YOU don't have to READ or WATCH them. I will end my comment with an applause to J.K Rowling, I think she has a terrific writing ability, I will miss Dumbledore. I hope she finds some way to bring him back into the Fantasy that so many love called Harry Potter.
Sincerely Yours,
Tabitha
Very Good But Sad Beacuse Of Who Dies
I always relate harry potter books with "Sindabad the Sailor" in terms of popularity.
7 horcruxes
1)inside voldermorte when he killed harry
2)the diary
3)the one he got reborn with
4)locket
5)hufflepuff cup
6)Nagina
7)marvolo ring
im pretty sure about all of them!!
Any guesses about who RAB is? I was thinking it might be Regulus Black until I remembered that he is dead...
I don't think dumbledore is dead!
Every other time we've seen the Avada Kedavra performed, the victim simply falls over dead. However, in Half-Blood Prince, when Snape curses Dumbledore with the same spell, Dumbledore violently flies up and away from the tower.WHY would this application of the Avada Kedavra be so different from every other time we've seen it?
Cool Harry Potter Online School, Come we need more members to make it sucessful!!!
Hogwarts School Online
It's like Hogwarts, only it's online!
its Very confusing Jeffroe
i have no idea whats goin on there
mel its an idea i have also had but what if you can choose how hard u make Avada Kedavra i mean moody said they could try to do it but it would do only little sparks
regulas black could be rab but died before figuring out how to do it, it could be that rab is a new person all together but that would stuid. if this to be her last book to introduce anbody now would be stupid . out of intrest could you show me what your favorit harry potter books are in order 1= thebest 6= the worst
1)prisoner of azkaban
2)goblet of fire
3)halfblood prince
4)chamber of secrets
5)order of the peonix
6)philosphers stone
by the way what significance do you reckon snape being the halfblood prince is
This is the order of personal preference I would put the books in -
1) Goblet Of Fire
2) Order Of The Phoenix
3) Prisoner Of Azkaban
4) Half Blood Prince
5) Philosopher's Stone
6) Chamber Of Secrets

In the final book i trust J.K.R. to create a wonderfull and action-y story and all, but i hope to see Harry to get back with Ginny. That was a good thing that was going on. Whell i really need to read that last book and hope to se it in stores soon.

I have read all five books and can't wait for this new one.
