Dick Dale and the Deltones Go To Outerspace

Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited - Jet Sound Inc.
Released: March 19, 2002 on the Dionysus label

What planet am I on? This may be the first question you ask yourself as you listen to the opening track of Jet Sound Inc. by Ernest Maeschi and Karen Diblitz, a mysterious Swiss act which call themselves Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited.
SSSU is what you get when you transport Dick Dale and the Deltones to the 25th century and let them earn a masters degree in 25th century recording technique.
Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited is, simply put, the best Space-Surf music that exists on this planet today. It's hard to know where to start, but I will try my best to convey, that which is not conveyable.

Let's start with the palette of sound that SSSU uses to create their masterful works of alien wipeout music. Hammond organ, bongos, vibraphones, surf guitar, outer space effects, and bass all infused with ingenious electronic sounds.
Jet Sounds Inc. is the thing that Quentin Tarantino wet dreams are made of. If you can remember back to the best surf guitar moment of the Pulp Fiction soundtrack and times that by one thousand you are starting to get close to how dynamic and superb this record is.

This may be the first time that swirling electronic space effects have been combined with surf guitar dripping in reverb. When I first heard it I essentially said to myself, "Eureka! That's how it was supposed to be done!" The same feeling I had about heavy metal music as a teenager when I heard Metallica's Kill 'Em All for the very first time.
At that point all other heavy metal bands were weak and lacking that special "something".

Every sound on this album is so perfectly placed and mixed that I can honestly say I would not change a thing. In fact, I would say that Jet Sound Inc. is my all time favorite non-classical instrumental album.
