Rod Stewart — transformed into a mightily successful crooner of standards in his rock 'n' roll dotage (he turned 60 in January) — announced he still has what it takes to produce the puppies (note sly grin above).

"I am overjoyed and extremely proud to be able to confirm that my fiancé Penny is carrying our baby. I count myself blessed to have bestowed upon me the honour of fatherhood again with Penny [Lancaster] whom I love and cherish so much," he said in a release.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stewart and model/photographer Lancaster, 34, held off confirming earlier reports since she just reached her 12th week of pregnancy and at this point, they were able to notify family members of their exciting news. Their baby is due early December and they plan to marry in Spring 2006.

Lancaster and Stewart have been together for nearly six years. This will be Ms. Lancaster's first child. Stewart has five children from previous relationships: Kimberly, 25, and Sean, 24, with first wife Alana Stewart; Ruby, 17, with former girlfriend Kelly Emberg; Renee, 13 today, and Liam, 10 are from his marriage to second wife Rachel Hunter.
