Jars of Clay

There is an amazing band that I've been listening to for almost 10 years called Jars of Clay (JoC). If you are not familiar with Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) then you may have never heard of the Jars boys. Forget all the stereotypes of CCM, Jars of Clay is truly a great band. They rock on accoustic guitars quite a bit and have deep and thoughtful lyrics. No gimmicks, their music could be classified as light rock but I call it accoustic rock (they are electric a bit also). I listen to Jars of Clay on those frequent nights when I need to go back to the office to get some undisturbed work done. Check them out! (Don't let the CCM label fool you, they are great.)

Jars Of Clay is a good band, although it took 2 years of listening to them before I had even heard them referenced as a Christian band. I think I heard their song once on the radio - liked them; downloaded some songs; bought a CD, and never heard them on the radio again. The same with Switchfoot, although Jars Of Clay is superior in both music and talent.

Welcome to Blogcritics. I haven't heard anything from this new album yet, but I loved their first two albums. I am currently finishing up my review of their "11 Live" DVD, so keep an eye out here.

ahhhh... I disagree with Tan. Switchfoot is superior. ;-)

That said, Jars of Clay's first album was amazing stuff... as is "Who We Are Instead"... the rest of it is rather mundane, though.

I liked the first jars of clay single.... way back..

Anwyay if your interested in another really really good christian artist, download some sufJan Stevens.

His music is primarily secular, but some of his christian background works itsway into the lyrics. In any case it is unbelievable music.... some of the best albums over the past 3 years.
