Review: 3 Cheese Stuffed Crust Pizza
Published May 12, 2005
I'm a big Pizza Hut fan. I love their normal pizza. Their Dippin' Strips were a stroke of genius. The 4-for-all will be a staple family favorite for years to come. When they recently introduced a 3 Cheese Stuffed Crust Pizza, I was salivating at the idea of trying it. Unfortunately, once I did, the only thought that came to my mind was "Yuck!"
What's So Different
In theory, a pizza with a stuffed crust should taste pretty much like a normal pizza, until you get to the savory end and encounter cheese filled paradise. The Stuffed Crust pizza was a completely different story. With the first bite, the pizza tasted different. The crust had a sweet flavor that was just unnatural. It was all that I could do just to make it to the stuffed crust ending, which to my displeasure wasn't any better. To be fair, the stuffed crust pizza wasn't that bad, but it did leave me wanting regular pizza. In fact, I found myself pillaging my wife's thin crust (I'm not even a thin crust fan).
Two Strikes And You're Out
This wasn't my first foray with Pizza Hut's stuffed crust. I tried their original Stuffed Crust exactly once. I didn't like it. The same sweet taste prevailed. I attributed it at the time to the type of cheese that was in the crust. That's why I got excited when I heard of the 3 Cheese Stuffed Crust. Three Cheeses HAVE to taste good. However, the same sweet taste still prevailed. I think it is something in the crust recipe. Well, I doubt I'll be trying Stuffed Crust again, but I do have a whole large to finish.
Which brings me to my last complaint, I could only order the pizza in large. They didn't have it any other size. So, now, I am forced to finish a humongous pizza that I didn't even like in the first place, and I have to do it all by myself. There is no justice.
While I enjoyed the adventure of awaiting the product of Pizza Hut's latest culinary experiment, I was sadly disappointed with the result that was delivered. The prevailing sweet taste ruined my 3 cheese crust ending. I didn't even bother eating it backwards. For those less adventurous, avoid the 3 Cheese Stuffed Crust pizza at all cost. I recommend the 4-For-All instead.

Good point. I haven't tried it while it was cold. Normally, I love cold pizza, but the cheese in the crust may prove to be a problem. I think the addition of a sauce with cheese in the crust would have been a better idea.
I tried it recently. Not great, but good.
Certainly better than any of the filth Dominoes has to offer...
I'm going to try it cold when I get home. Maybe the second run will be better than the first. I'm skeptical though.
I was just at the Blogcritics site a little bit ago, at an entry on a political column. However, I was in the mood to order pizza tonight, and I ended up settling on this new special from Pizza Hut. I was looking for some info about it just now on the web, and I found that someone has blogged about it at this site (I wasn't aware that food was also critiqued at this weblog). I have to go pick up this Large, 3-Cheese, Stuffed Crust pizza shortly... Perhaps I should have read this entry by Mr. Roussos before ordering. Oh well, perhaps I will end up liking it. If not, at least it will be something, considering that it's already 8:40 PM, and I've hardly eaten anything all day...
I'd like to hear your thoughts on it, Aakash. When I got home from work, I tried a couple pieces cold. It was a little better but not much. I didn't even finish the crust on the last piece I ate. And it wasn't because I was full either.
when visiting your stockport branch on saturday 27th oct 07 9pm the only reason to go was because i wanted a triple cheesy bites, after perswading my husband all week this was the place to eat this weekend, only to be told when ordering, sorry we have no triple cheesy bies pizza left. Its 9.15pm on a SATURDAY NIGHT you are advertising this pizza everywear! how dissapointing.

All I can think about with this is knawing on something rubbery. Yuck. Why can't they venture into a sauce stuffed crust? This would be more tasty and less likely to feel like you are trying to eat a car tire after the pizza has cooled down from "burn your mouth" hot to cool enough to eat.
