Man, If I tried this I'd win hands down for worse singing ever. It's stirred a desire to go and listen to the tracks again. Maybe on vinyl.

sounds like great fun. I would love to meet meatloaf. Meeting Eddie (from RH Picture Show) would be way too cool.

And bat out of hell remains one of my two favorite albums. I listen to it rarely, and for the nostalgia it brings. It was truly excellent/creative writing and I think MeatLoaf has a great voice.

Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to go to the east coast for one of the shows (in the very unlikely event I'd win).

Our little one does a great Carla deVito impersonation though
(throws her hand out wildly) 'Stop right there! I gotta know right now...'

I didn't think it was, hence the "esque." Still, when I saw Natalie Merchant on a small theatre tour (second concert ever, White Zombie was the first), tickets were around $50.00. I just thought something like Meatloaf on a small theatre/club tour would be as pricey if not more.

oh...it wasn't filmed for vh1, it was just the style of show he was doing on that tour.

Mark,

Must have been a pricey extra ticket for a Storytellersesque show. That would've been nice to see.

i never liked Meat Loaf back in the day (even with the E St. Band connection)

(i did like his vocals on Nugent's Free For All record)

a couple of years ago, i got to see him play in boston (a friend at work had an extra ticket)...it was one of these vh1 storytellers kinda things...audience members asking questions as intros for the songs.

the show was very entertaining...plus, he had a killer band. Kasim Sultan on bass is no freakin' slouch.

You have to admit, whether you're a music snob or not, that there is some definite charm to his music.

Either way, I think it's a great contest idea and will be lots of fun.

Do we have to be any good at singing? Oh wait, it is Meatloaf, hard to listen to is part of the imitation. If I can figure out a way to record myself singing I am totally going to sing I'd Do Anything For Love....because I used to sing it ALL the time as a little girl. And quite frankly, he was the best part of Rocky Horror :)

Wow,

I can't stand Meatloaf. I mean, this is about the coolest contest we have ever done here. It is an honor to be selected. But, honestly, Meatloaf's music is an abhorration to rock.
