When nerds attack

Fine, so I gave in and managed to amble my way over to the official site for the up and coming movie: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The most thrilling part of this venture was a taking a little survey under the heading: Tell us what you think. It was admittedly peppered with annoying multiple choice questions, but my heart filled with glee when they allowed you to freelance under the question, "Is there anything else you would like to add." Considering this picture is under the production of Touchstone Pictures it's very worrisome indeed and so I shared the following:

It's certainly an easy feat to stray from a cult classic when the author is dead. I will personally be carrying rotten fruit on my person to the theater in case the movie is not to my liking. Normally I'm not a hostile or even motivated person, but if you manage to bastardize this story I will personally nuke Hollywood and Florida for grins.

Your use of the word 'nuclear' (nook-yoo-ler) has triggered paragraph 451 sub-clause F of the USA Patriot Act, and federal agents are even now on their way to discuss this with you.

Douglas Adams was involved in this project before he died. I seem to recall a comment he made for fans that indicated that the movie would be a little different than the book, and to remember that he had changed things in the story himself from radio play to book to 80s movie.

How'd you get Google ads in the middle of your column?

Chris, I have no idea. Apparently I have magical powers I'm unaware of. Which is kinda spiffy.

Er, all posts now have GoogleAds in roughly the center of the piece. All except the most recent, that is, and when I press the magic button, those get updates, too.

You mean I don't have magical powers? Now I'm just bummed.

yes, the comments Adams made was that every incarnation of HHGTTG was different and that the movie would be no exception. If I remember right, he was heavely involved with working with the script before his death.

granted, it's very possible they mucked with it afterward... but I do have hopes
