Concert Announcement: Summer Meat Loaf Tour

He's larger than life, a rock & roll icon, and his concerts are legendary. The one and only Meat Loaf, a performer who's been to hell and back and lived to sing about it --twice, in fact-- is about to come to a town near you.

On April 2nd the box office opened up to sell tickets to Meat Loaf's 21 day summer tour. "Meat Loaf: The Tour...Experience it, be a part of it," is coming to a town near you and, as is tradition with his tours, will feature unique audience participation and promotions for each show. Each city Meat Loaf stops in will have auditions for a local singer. The chosen vocalist will appear on stage with Meat to perform "Paradise By The Dashboard Light," a popular favorite from 1977's Bat Out of Hell.

Meat Loaf's fan club won't be left out, however, as they too will get to participate in the fun. Special VIP packages are available to members at www.meatloaf.net. Purchasing one of these packages will give them the opportunity to meet Mr. Loaf himself, and also potentially give them the chance to count off the band's opening number on stage.

It's rumored that new material will be performed over the course of the tour and that these fresh tunes will be a glimpse into a third installment of the Bat Out Of Hell series. The first two Bat Out of Hell albums sold over 30 million copies collectively in the United States. Worldwide that number is more than double.

As is always the case with a Meat Loaf show, one can expect an unparalleled night of rock and roll theatrics. The tour dates are as follows:

Where did you hear about the auditions and performance gimmick? I hadn't seen that anywhere on Meat's website. As a long time imitator of Meat Loaf during my youthful (and foolish) tenure as a semi-pro karaoke singer, I'm about this close to geeking out.

thanks MB!

Bill, here's a little quote from a press release I received:

--Local promotions will take place in each city coordinated with radio and press to audition singers to join Meat Loaf on-stage for a performance of his classic, "Paradise by the Dashboard Light."--

I assume that more information will be available closer to the dates of the concerts. I think it's a genius promo idea and I hope footage from each performance is made available to the public at some point. It could be a real career starter for some lucky participant.

Not sure what shape the Beau Rivage is in, but....have tickets for the concert in Biloxi on 9/16. Would like to see if money could be given to the Red Cross.
