What's the point in TSG pulling Scott Savol's little rap sheet? I don't know - maybe they are like me, they just post what folks are going to find topical and interesting. Maybe somebody at TSG just thought the dude had a shady vibe. For me, even though I gotta wonder about a guy who would warn the woman he supposedly loved at one time to "watch her back", who would have a somewhat violent confrontation with her on Valentine's Day, I still hope this doesn't do what I think it will to the guy and blow any chance he might have had of winning the thing. We're all human, and frankly, if Scott Savol has cleaned up his act since 2001, this revelation strikes me as unfair and kind of pointless. If he hasn't, and there are more revelations to come, then he deserves to go down like the Hindenburg.
There is, unfortunately, a precedent. Remember Corey Clark [Google search]? He was an AI finalist a couple of years ago. Yeah - The Smoking Gun got his ass, too.
Here's a quote from the Idol producers posted on the TSG page about Corey linked in the previous paragraph:
"...Due to events that have recently come to light, American Idol participant Corey Clark has been removed from the contest. All participants are required to provide full and accurate information to assist in background checks, including disclosure of any prior arrests. Corey withheld information about a prior arrest which, had it been known, might have affected his participation in the show..."
Big Scott surely disclosed this little fracas he had with his baby mama, didn't he?
I have a feeling he's headed back to rule the karaoke bars of northern Ohio sooner than later, poor guy.
.:UPDATE:. Scott Savol was up-front about the charges with American Idol producers. From USA Today, an article published April 1, 2005:"...'Scott Savol was forthcoming to the American Idol producers and the network regarding his misdemeanor.
After reviewing the facts, in which the charges were reduced to disorderly conduct, we (American Idol producers) felt that considering Scott's honesty and his remorse, the situation did not warrant his disqualification.'..."

Why isn't anyone questions "American Idol" keeping Paula after her hit and run issue. "Ididn;t do it" until pictures were produced. Kind of like the pot calling the kettle balck.
Gene - I'm not sure what you mean with the "pot calling the kettle black" phrase - maybe you're saying why make a news story out of Savol's past problems when Paula Abdul has current ones.
I tend to agree with you. The overall coverage of her hit & run - what an ironic crime for a former pop star who had a big hit that asked "am I caught in a hit and run" - has been awfully muted. Aside from that, Scott obviously owned up to this thing early on. Believe it or not, I was glad to read that.
I don't care if Scott is a crook, I like his voice! American Idol is a singing compettition!
