A Christmas Story Follow-Up

Around Christmas, I posted a brief Blogcritics item noting that the house used in A Christmas Story was up for sale on eBay. Judging by the number of responses to that story, that movie strikes a chord with people. Towards the end of the responses was one from Brian, saying he had just bought the house.

A story in today's Cleveland Plain Dealer brings you up to date. Brian Jones of San Diego, a big fan of the movie, bought the house sight unseen. The story fills you in on his plans. You can also visit his site at http://achristmasstoryhouse.com to learn even more.

and I don't care what anyone say, I still love the movie, although I am careful not to watch it more than every few years

So did he buy the house because of the bc post? Very cool - leastways a slice of cultural history will be preserved a while longer

Well, I don't know, Aaman -- he bought it because of the eBay auction. Whether his Navy wife was tipped to the auction because of the story on BC, or through some other tip (I heard of it because someone else tipped me off, afterall)is unclear

How could someone not love this movie, Eric? Has someone abused you about enjoying it? I'd seriously question the usefulness of a human that didn't find A Christmas Story to be just about the best Christmas movie ever. Not seeing it every year at Christmas seems like blasphemy, Eric. It never gets old for me.

Tom, unfortunately the ubiquity of the movie at Xmas time has reached that of It's a Wonderful Life, and so has detractors. But as I say about various media: it isn't the (film, song, album, whatever)'s fault that it became that popular

What radio show does Ralphie listen to every night?
