Ward Churchill controversy - my final thoughts
In a relentless effort to further smear Churchill's name, investigators have found some pretty troubling details. He has been caught speeding at least twice. Just last year he was identified as conditioning, yet skipping the shampoo step altogether. Investigators find early photos of Churchill wearing a belt that clearly does not match his shoes either. He has gone on record referring to African Americans as 'blacks' and was unearthed to be holding at least three different library books with fines well into the hundreds of dollars. There are confirmed reports that he hates puppies and doesn't tip well either.
The point being folks: Get off his dick and move on with your lives. The guy isn't worth our energy. He is a dirt bag coattail riding narcissist punk with a monster chip on his shoulder. He has been caught plagiarizing text, art forge, threatening multiple parties, possibly lying about being even remotely Native American, possibly lied about time in the Service etc. I say possibly because this guy isn't worth the 2 hours of research I should do to make this a better piece with more linkable proof to my points. This guy is a thug and a liar, and so is beneath me spending the evening researching him. I am not bothered too much about what he said in his fabled essay. It was recently reported the beleaguered university had bought him out of his contract. That fell apart when more allegations of misdeeds surfaced. What bothers me is everything this asshat has done and said every second since then. If he really wanted to be a hero, he would have shunned the cameras and gone back to teaching.
It is really sad to see someone who thinks everything they do is great and that every opinion they have must be shared with the world. What drives a man to such obvious cries for attention and obsessive pettiness? I mean, thank god I snaked 'www.iamcorrect.com' before he did... because at least with my all consuming self importance, I am decently funny.
So stop talking about him, you are giving this energy. If you need something to talk about, and clearly you do, use me! This will be my last post on dude hopefully forever.

Mikki,
Enough already about the war being about oil. If it was then why am I paying the highest gas prices ever?
Stop and take a deep breathe and then look at the dramatic events that have unfolded in the Middle East and in the Ukraine over the last twelve months.
Freedom is on the move and that really bothers you doesn't it? These people deserve to be free and the U.S. has the right to an offensive defense to protect and disarm terrorist acts from happening.
Richard,
You'd be paying a helluva lot more for gas if middle east oil supplies weren't secured for your consumption by the US military.
The USA invades Iraq killing thousands of civilians and you call that a dramatic event - instead of a crime against humanity.
Your bizarre definition of freedom for these people is a US controlled puppet regime. You'd be funny if you weren't so out to lunch.
Mikki
It is un-American anti-freedom liberals like you which create this "guilt complex" about this country while creating a false image of what the United States is and what good it does for the world. You may not be able to accept it but you can not ignore the fantastic and dramatic changes that have swept over the Middle East.
it is comments like #4 that make the politics column (and culture, from time to time) the cesspool that it is.
it's like the drudge report on acid.
or something.
So the anti-US propaganda comments didn't really bother you or the "column"?
Mark
Please say you are also part of this conspiracy laden anti-American, anti-Bush army that continually convinces no one on how evil the United States is.
I'll quote my comment #2 since #4 upset you.
Stop and take a deep breathe and then look at the dramatic events that have unfolded in the Middle East and in the Ukraine over the last twelve months.

EXCUSE MY LAST COMMENT
Please say you are not part of this conspiracy laden anti-American, anti-Bush army that continually convinces no one on how evil the United States is.

I should clarify. My point about Churchill's essay is that he can say what he wants... that is what the first amendment is for.
If these comments came from an elected official I might be more concerned. However, they came from a college professor. They are supposed to be commies!
So had he just done his essay and went back to work I wouldn't have thought a thing about it. However, how he has handed himself since then is what offends me. I think the most odious is his AIM posse. I say this because apparently he was kicked out of AIM since he is only like 1/32 of Native American.
That is like me (a white athiest) running around with the nation of Islam covering my back. Dude is a punk.
Richard,
The US is guilty of killing thousands of Iraqi people in order to steal Iraqi oil. The invasion of Iraq was/is a war crime perpetrated under the pretense of Iraq having WMD. You can pretend all you want that a US installed regime in Iraq is for the benefit of the Iraqis, but why would anyone in their right mind believe that the oil craving greedheads in the Bush administration give a damn about those particular people. Did you imagine the Bushwackers in the Oval Office wringing their hands over those poor "I-raqis"? If so you need to take a hard look at the real world without your rose-colored glasses. If it begins to bother you you can always slip back into your imaginary pollyanna land of US altruism.
Mikki, if you are this woefully uninformed or just choose to lie, why do you bother to waste our time?
>>The US is guilty of killing thousands of Iraqi people in order to steal Iraqi oil.<<
Please provide supporting evidence for the theft of Iraqi oil. Our government has unequivocally stated that all proceeds from oil sales in Iraqi will go to the people of Iraq. We're not even taking payment for our services in reestablishing oil production. So are you ignorant of the facts or just lying?
In addition, we could have gotten all the oil we wanted from Iraq without going to war at all. All we had to do was shake Saddam's hand and tell him he was an okay guy. We did it in the 80s and got plenty of oil and we could have done it again. Plus it would have been a lot cheaper in money and lives than going to war.
>>Are you really sure you're not bothered being reminded that half million Iraqi kids are dead because the USA is addicted to middle east oil? <<
Ok, I get it now, someone is feeding you lies and you don't have the common sense to filter them out. If there were 500,000 children killed in Iraq - a figure which has never been even close to substantiated by any research or data - do tell me exactly how it's the fault of the US. The children that died in the 1990s died as a result of the sanctions against Iraq. During that period food - mostly from the US - was supposed to get into the country, but Saddam basically stole from the system and kept the food out of the hands of the non-elite portions of the Iraqi population. These sanctions were imposed by the UN, not the US. So how, exactly are we responsible?
>>Your bizarre definition of freedom for these people is a US controlled puppet regime.<<
So, you don't like read newspapers or watch the news on TV or in fact, have access to any source of any kind of actual information from Iraq, right? Do a google news search for 'Iraqi Election' and read a bit. Then come back and join the discussion with some actual information at your command.
Dave
Lono,
Why are you blathering about the man when you've already said, "...this guy isn't worth the 2 hours of research I should do to make this a better piece with more linkable proof to my points."?
You've admitted you don't know what you're talking about so quit while you're ahead. There's linkable proof here that you're a tad off kilter so attempt to be level-headed if you're determined to castigate Churchill.
Mikki
A US installed regime in Iraq? Have you been sleeping during the last two months? Did you hear they had an election voted on by the people of Iraq?
As for the oil, this is a tired sublect and fictitiously used by those who oppose Bush and the war. If this was about oil, as Dave mentioned, we could have had it with Hussein.
Rose-colored glasses? Again facts...facts...facts. Look around the Middle East. Iraq, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon and of course outside the Middle East, Ukraine.
The people of these countries crave and want and have or will get their freedom. THis is a good thing and now they can wear rose colored glasses and have a chance at a better future.
You probably support the UN, coalitions formed around France and Germany and think that if the US puts its head in the sand, the bad men will go away and not hurt us.
Dave,
Your silly diatribe is hardly worth a response. How do you manage to breath when you're up to your eyebrows in denial thicker than bullpoop? You want evidence of the theft of Iraqi oil? Will that dispel your belief that the invasion was all about cornering the market on the date crop? Are you insane or putting on an act?
"Our government has unequivocally stated that all proceeds from oil sales in Iraqi will go to the people of Iraq."
The Bush regime also unequivocally stated that Iraq had WMD, and you, like a doofus, fell for the lies.
"If there were 500,000 children killed in Iraq - a figure which has never been even close to substantiated by any research or data - do tell me exactly how it's the fault of the US."
A more conservative figure is 227,000 (do you feel better now?) according to Richard Garfield's research - Morbidity and mortality among Iraqi Children. The US took it upon itself to get involved in a conflict between Iraq and Kuwait. It used a bogus story about Iraqi soldiers dumping Kuwaiti babies out of hospital incubators to secure the approval of the US public for the Gulf War. Ever since then it's been one scam after another. For oil of course.
"These sanctions were imposed by the UN, not the US. So how, exactly are we responsible?"
The UN doesn't impose sanctions. They were the work of the US, UK and other Security Council members. Ex-Secretary of State James Baker and Bill Clinton both stated that regardless of Iraq's compliance with UN resolutions, until Hussein was gone sanctions would never be lifted.
Now you can quit posing as an informed citizen.
"The US took it upon itself to get involved in a conflict between Iraq and Kuwait." Invading a country, is merely a conflict? Then why so upset over Iraq?
Mikki, it's obvious you got all your Gulf War facts from an excerpt in an encylopedia. There was far more to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait than one story about babies and incubators.
For your information, we still deliver fuel into Iraq from Kuwait, so we muct be doing a poor job of stealing the Iraqis' oil.
Mikki:
You're so delusional there's no point even responding to you. Until you can come back with opinions supported by reality, not paranoid fantasies, you're not up to discussing this topic.
Here's a hint - read over your post with particular attention to your characterization of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and whether UN sanctions are, in fact, UN sanctions. When your comments directly controvert known fact, that's a sign it's time to either edit your comments so they make sense or just give up.
Dave
Richard,
Use your head. You're talking about an election that was conducted under US approval in an occupied country.
"If this was about oil, as Dave mentioned, we could have had it with Hussein."
Sure, like you can have it with Hugo Chavez. Get real!
"We have about 60% of the world's wealth but only 6.3% of its' population. In this situation we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity. We need not deceive ourselves that we can afford today the luxury of altruism and world benefaction. We should cease to talk about such vague and unreal objectives as human rights, the raising of living standards and democratisation. The day is not far off when we are going to have to deal in straight power concepts. The less we are then hampered by idealistic slogans, the better."
George Kennan, former Head of the U.S. State Department Policy Planning Staff, Document PPS23, 24th February 1948.
Are you saying George Kennan somehow knew we'd invade Iraq 55 years later? How prescient!
NIce of you to sidestep Dave's comment about dealing with Saddam for oil at a much lower cost than the one we are currently paying. No actual argument from you, just an offhand remark. Behavior like this leads me to conclude you are a troll, prove me wrong.
SFC Ski
"Invading a country, is merely a conflict?"
Not my contention.
"There was far more to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait than one story about babies and incubators."
Oh, right. I forgot. You were in the thick of it. I'm referring to your head, of course.
"...we still deliver fuel into Iraq from Kuwait,..."
As in - what's our oil doing under their sand?
Aren't you the dull one!
When you have a point to address that is easily parsed from your nonsequiturs, I'll respond to it.
Still haven't answered anything that I addressed above, and the personal insults really make me what to spend more time on you, marvelous!
Dave,
Don't whinge to me because you don't understand plain english. You play with your opinions and I'll just keep feeding you the facts. Here's one that's so obvious I'm confident even you'll grasp it.
The US is a rogue state that is responsible for the deaths of vast numbers of innocent human beings.
Get the picture?
On that note, Mikki leaves the plane of rational discourses and enters trolldom and perdition.
SFC Ski
Please don't feel you have to hang around here for my benefit. I fairly certain you've nothing to say that'll be of interest me. At least nothing that won't have to be taken with a truckload of salt.
What'd I tell you!
Mikki's "fact":
>>The US is a rogue state that is responsible for the deaths of vast numbers of innocent human beings.
Get the picture? <<
Yes, it's quite clear. You think opinions are facts.
Dave
The fact is Ward Churchill has no recollection of truth...he says America is responsible for the death of all the children in the care of Saddam Hussein...but had we continued money for food and supplies to them...we would have been responsible for the death of America via...newly purchased & created weapons paid for with our own money...& of course the children would still be dead. MIkkI are you American? or are you like good old Ward Churchill...antiamerican?

What a load of crap. If you read the essay and weren't "bothered too much about what he said", you're retarded.
Here's how the essay begins:
"On the morning of September 11, 2001, a few more chickens - along with some half-million dead Iraqi children - came home to roost in a very big way at the twin towers of New York's World Trade Center. Well, actually, a few of them seem to have nestled in at the Pentagon as well.
The Iraqi youngsters, all of them under 12, died as a predictable - in fact, widely predicted - result of the 1991 US "surgical" bombing of their country's water purification and sewage facilities, as well as other "infrastructural" targets upon which Iraq's civilian population depends for its very survival.
Are you really sure you're not bothered being reminded that half million Iraqi kids are dead because the USA is addicted to middle east oil?
Give your fat head a shake.
