New album releases, week of 3-8-2005
Published March 07, 2005
We're back to nothing worth talking about in album releases this week. Deana Carter looks pretty on her new album cover, though.
50 Cent has a new album out, The Massacre. He's obviously the hottest thing in the music biz, what with no less than three simultaneous top 10 Billboard pop hit singles. On top of which, he's got that gang beef with Game and the shooting at the radio station. In no meaningful sense of the word could 50 Cent be called a musician, but I must admit that this shooting was a brilliant publicity gimmick.
Still, why would anyone be buying a CD just because he's got street cred as a real life gangsta thug? Not to put too fine a point on it, but I wouldn't hire Smokey Robinson for a hit man, so why would I pay 50 Cent to "sing" or whatever it is exactly that he does? If I were to give 50 Cent my $15, I'd be expecting a crack rock in return. It'd have more lasting value than his "music."

Kasabian is pretty good - I've been listening to their single "Club Foot" off iTunes - not very distinctive, but a good song, nevertheless - with strong riffs.
