Dumpster Bust Film Squad: Sam Raimi + Evil Dead 4 = Yes!

Bloody-Disgusting.com has the scoop from the mouth of great cult director turned great uber-director Sam Raimi (he helmed the Spidey pics... 'nuff said): he will helm Evil Dead 4, which will include the greatest bad actor (or greatest B actor: you decide) in the history of film: Bruce Campbell.

Raimi will be directing and producing Evil Dead 4, which will star Bruce Campbell as ASH and will also have many of the actors from the previous Evil Dead movies. Raimi says that "This is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original".

There will also be a remake of the original Evil Dead, though with an entirely different director and cast.

Evil Dead 2 is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's almost a perfect blend of low budget weird horror flick with laugh-out-loud slapstick comedy. Bruce Campbell's face shows off a thousand emotions as the tormented Ash, locked away in a woodsy cabin of the damned... things really get going when the furniture starts mocking him and his own hand becomes his mortal enemy (got the picture yet, kids?).

I can't wait to see the talented and blessed Raimi/Campbell tandem back at it with another Evil Dead installment.

Yep - feeling the same over here L Cue -- thanks.

Eric,You didn't clarify this with your
post: Is Raimi going to be directing the
re-make of the original "Evil Dead" ?
I hope so. I'm looking forward to Pt.4
as well. With Sam at the helm it should
be hilarious. My fave Raimi flick is
still "Darkman", a flick that a lot of
people seem to have forgotten already.

HW - The interview indicated, as I stated, that the remake of the original will have an entirely different director and cast. I agree that it would have been fun to Raimi in on that one, but to have a new Evil Dead with he and Campbell is almost more than anyone could have expected.

I thought Darkman was good but not great. Give me Evil Dead 2 (I'll swallow yer soul -- I'll swallow yer soul) any day of the week.

Whoops! I read past that in my haste.
Sorry 'bout that. But thanks for politely
answering my stupid question anyway.
Yeah,I agree E.D.# 2 is good. Henrietta
always makes me laugh my ass off.I mean
how sick is that? LOL.

Darkman always reminded me of a cartoon
masquerading as a movie. I re-watched it
recently & there are some prototypical
elements there that could definitely be
thought of as precursory to Spidey 1&2.

Don't sweat it, HW -- I'm a big scanner of info as well, so it's very easy to miss stuff.

Henrietta was great, you're right. So many classic lines from ED II, including one of my faves:

Who's laughing now?

Just about kills me... must say something deep about my psyche.
