The Tournament

"The Tournament" premiered this week on CBC. A six episode mockumentary of the Briarside Farqueson Funeral Home Warriors push to the big time win for the cup. However, the hockey team are 10 year old Atom players, and their parents are insane.

This is one of the funniest limited series CBC has done since "The Newsroom", the series is bolstered by a well done web site. Given that the NHL is in limbo, the overwhelming goal of the parents such as Robbie McConnell to have the next Gretsky makes this show even funnier.

One warning, as with several other sports movies, there is some very unsuitable language for children and USAians, however, when Denim Farqueson says she looks forward in the qualifying game to "busting f**king heads", it is bleeped out, since she is only 10 years old.
