Tales from the Browns Sidelines by Tony Grossi
Published December 28, 2004
Tales from the Browns Sidelines is a collection of short one to three page stories that profile some of the most remembered names from the history of the Cleveland Browns.
Written by Tony Grossi, a longtime football writer for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the book looks at both the famous (Paul Brown, Otto Graham, Jim Brown, Brian Sipe, Bernie Kosar), the colorful (George Ratterman, Joe "Turkey" Jones, Ben Gay) and the infamous (in Cleveland, "You-know-who" refers to a certain ex-owner and not Lord Voldemort).
While this book is only going to be of interest to Browns fans (and is quite good at keeping your mind off the current situation) it is part of a whole Sidelines series from Sports Publishing LLC featuring NFL and top college teams. Some of the books are strictly by one of the local sportswriters, while in other cases a famous name (Roger Craig, for instance) is used to help sell the books while a sportswriter is there to do the real writing. One oddity — of all the famous names they could have used for Notre Dame, the best they could do was Gerry Faust's Tales from the Notre Dame Sideline ?
