It may seem stupid to many by leaving the good city life to live in the jungle with animals. But that was the passion of Dian Fossey. Going to Africa to see and live with gorillas was her childhood dream.
She made her first trip to Africa in 1963 and began her studies in 1966 in the Congo. Living in a solitary life for many years, Dian Fossey observed the gorillas habits and gradually gained their acceptance.
Living in country like Congo that time was not only unhealthy but extremely dangerous. Dian was arrested and forced to leave Congo during a military uprising to live in Rwanda.
Concerned with threats to the gorillas from poachers, Dian was found murdered at her Karisoke Research Centre in 1985. Till today her murder remain an unsolved mystery. But her fight to save gorillas from been killed by poachers shall always be remembered.
