I met the late great Bert Reid at a Felix Hernandez Rhythm Revue in late 2003. He was elegant, charming, engaging and kind. We chatted the night away about past and present music and his many accomplishments as an artist and songwriter. He was so very insightful, interesting and polite. Tonight, I was chatting with a dear friend, and the Crown Heights Affair came up in casual conversation about music. I mentioned that I once met Bert Reid. My friend then Googled him and discovered that he had gone home.

I'd just like to pay tribute to this phenomenal and talented professional. The stars will be forever in in search of their celestial alignment in the wake of his passing. Goodnight Sweet Prince...J

I was a friend of Bert. I met him on the internet. He came here to Jamaica in April 2004 to see me.I can send you pictures of his visits. When he retured I heard from him a couple of time. He told me he was having some chest pains and that he was going to to some test. I never heard from him since. On enquiring now on the internet I found out that he has passed. I am so sorry. I have one special thing that he sent me. The lyrics to a song he wrote but not release, "Love Existing".
