According to TotalRock, Anselmo was "not welcome" at Dimebag's funeral yesterday. In further news, according to Brave News Anselmo ended a taped interview on the death with the following statement:

"This has changed the entire world, and this is the last you'll be seeing of me for a long time."

Those looking for a round-up of reactions to Dimebag's death should take a look at Hard News. In other reactions, some have not been so positive, Brave Words reports the words of some arsehat called William Grim.

Update: CMU reports that:

A public memorial service for Pantera/Damageplan guitarist 'Dimebag'
Darrell Abbot - shot last week while he played at a gig in Ohio - will be held in Arlington, Texas next Tuesday evening.

According to MTV, fans are being encouraged to arrive early and to bring an unwrapped toy which will be donated to a charitable organisation. The public service will follow a private funeral for friends and family earlier the same day. Abbot's family are also expected to be in attendance at the public memorial, though it is unclear if any of them will speak.

Marty's band, Growing Old Disgracefully, can be found at: Disgraceful Music. His Cthulhu tales can be found at Temple of Dagon.

this is shitty. we went to practice thursday night but noone even wanted to jam we all just sat around talking about what happened. we played a few pantera songs and smoked out. man i feel like someone has punched me in my music gut. fuck nathan gale i hope the devil shows that son of a bitch some extra special attention. i hope if anyone went to his funeral it was just to spit in hi casket and to piss in his grave. the past few days have been shitty i still wake up every day wanting to believe it never happened, but the more i research it i know it did. DIME AND PANTERA were my main inspiration playing guitar and the way i play. VINNIE i know you probably wont see this but if you do man im so so sorry for your loss, i play in a band with my brother and only brothers know that connection, i feel your pain and share the loss. once again to all the membersof damageplan and phil and rex fuck anyone who ever got the chance to know dime like i wish i did, im crushed and im very very sorry, every time i touch my gear now, i feel dime smilling down on my axe and giving me the blessing to rock in his name. R.I.P. DIMEBAG 1966 - 2004

Dimebag Darrell will truly be missed without Dimbag there will never be another Pantera. I wanted one day to see Pantera reunite one last time. You guys were the first band I saw in concert. Actually meeting the band never came true for me even though I have never met with any of the band members from Pantera I felt like I personally knew the band through the songs that were wrote.
I know that Pantera has been through a lot since day one and as the years go by it won't be getting any easier now that Dimebag is gone. So Phil, Vinnie and Rex hold your heads up high and keep going. That is what the real "Dimebag" Darrell would want you guys to do. Don't let the past get in the way. It is time to make a new path in life and I think this is a new start for you guys! I know that it won't be the same since Dimebag is gone but don't let that hold you guys back.
HOLD THOSE HEADS UP HIGH AND PROVE TO EVERYONE THAT THINGS FROM THE PAST ARE MEANT TO BE LEFT IN THE PAST!
RIP DIMEBAG YOU WERE THE BEST OF BEST!

This was such a shock to lose Dime like this. I was fortunate enough to meet Dime during the first Damageplan tour. He hugged me like a brother, signed my washburn and performed as well as any time I had ever seen him with Pantera. Damageplan returned on Nov. 16 2004 and I met him again along with Vinnie. He had gone back to playing Dean guitars and mine is now signed as well by both Dime and VPaul. Three weeks later he's dead? What the fuck is that! I am an accomplished and college educated guitarist holding a degree in guitar performance, and to now have my metal mentor dead is an impact to the metal world like the death of Hendrix, or Lennon. I will play on in the spirit of Dime because he lives in me and I in him. Stay strong all, Dime wouldn't want us to give up or let this tragic loss affect us depressively. Dime lives on in all of us!

Who the hell could do something like that? The night I heard of Dime's murder, I punched the glass out of my window, I was so pissed off. Now my guitar inspiration is dead. And I never got to see him live. If Dime's killer hadn't been killed at the club, he would have been first tortures and then killed at the hands of all Dimebag's loyal fans, I know this for a fact.

DIMEBAG WILL LIVE FOREVER!!

The annivarsary of his death is soon. I finally figured out why Dime died. Phil killed him. Last laugh though... Damageplan was better than Supergay Ritual. Fuck Phil forever. Fuck all you fans that are obbsessed with is fucking trapped head. I hate everything about Phil. Pantera still fucking owns. Listen to A Bustle in Your Hedgerow is you're feelin sorry for yourself. I hope Phil dies at a show or anywhere in this world. I wish death upon him. Phil... I hope you die cause you killed Pantera... you killed Dimebag... You let everyone of us Pantera fans down like no other faggot in the music world has. I hope some crazy fan realizes this too and loads a gun... or a fucking shotty... and blows your worthless mind into oblivion. You killed Pantera phil anselmo. Band whore.

#8 — March 7, 2008 @ 20:42PM — Think again (from Finland with love)

To "that_girl": Please think again what you wrote. We have all seen through out the history that hate and anger and "dead wishes" brings just more and more disasters. Disasters that you can't erase and bring back to normal... or in some cases alive. Life is not a fucking video-game! I think there is enough tragedy in this world already. And yes, I also hate some people so much, that I know world would be better place without them, but still... humans should NOT act as God and decide who shall live or not.

Yes, I have been Pantera fan for long time... since "Vulgar" came out. So I will miss whole band and their music a lot. But it doesn't matter who I am and what I like or don't like.

What matters is that when something so sick happens, like Dimebag's murder, even the most hard core angry metal scene unites with one thought "this is fucking insane, sick and wrong!" Yeah, you can put your hate and aggression into music and lyrics... that is the right way! (Like Misfits' "Die Die Die My Darling" I bet Glenn Danzig wouldn't been really joyful, if her darling would have really died! There is a difference in music and real life still!) Some of us gets energy and relief from it. But you MUST BE FUCKING STUPID IDIOT LOOSER to really hurt or kill someone!!! No damn matter what's the case.

Peace! And let there will be hard and heavy riffs, drums and sounds for us who need it to survive another day - always!
