I wish I had known they were going to appear, or I would have tuned in.

I won't go to see them play some huge arena. I was spoiled by seeing them play two small venues way back when. I have had too many great memories of great bands ruined by reunion tours. I'm sure the Pixies sound great and all, but my memories of being jammed into Peabody's Down Under with 500 sweaty friends on my birthday, pressed up against the stage is just going to be hard to top with an arena show.

Well, Eric, I think you should spend exactly as much time worrying about it as Francis has: none.

People get older, and their looks change.

The Pixies were incredible at Hammerstein. I went Tuesday night, and they produced an amazing beautiful roar. They also have a fantastic, concentrated songbook — just three or four (or four and a half, however you count) albums' worth of stuff, with obvious pearls among them:
"Gigantic" "Caribou" "Debaser" "Gouge Away," etc.

They were just terrific, and Kim's wrinkles and Frank's baldness really didn't come into play much.

I kinda thought "Monkey" was an uninspired choice for Letterman, but they played it and sang it well.

Ah well...we're all looking more and more like Paul Shaffer everyday.

I've heard they sound great, too...and I'm really sorry I missed it.

So much to keep up with!

I don't know how they look these days, but I've heard they sound incredible.

I got a call from a buddy of mine earlier today who was about to go in and see them live at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. He snagged a ticket on eBay for $35. I think he wanted to gloat...

Me jealous!
