- Domestic buildings are of two principal sorts: folk houses and styled houses. Folk houses are those designed without a concious attempt to mimic current fashions. Many are built by their occupants or by non-professional builders, and are all relatively simple houses meant to provide basic shelter, with little concern for presenting a stylish face to the world.

Michael, Thanks for the review. This is way too short however - what are the areas and periods of American architecture covered in this book? How is better, or worse, than other similar books?
Do take this in a positive note
