No doubt they will also gloat if he ends up having to sell off his homes. The role of Jean Chretien and his cronies in the decision of CB to sell out and leave the country shouldn't be underestimated. Their treatment of Conrad vis-a-vis the granting of British titles verged on the criminal. Many other Canadians in recent times have been honored with British titles. The refusal to grant CB the same right was an act of small minded malice. Unfortunately, Canadians of British origin have been much less vigilant about maintaining their traditions and culture - than the French descendants of Quebec. Conrad Black offered a vision with the Canadian National Post that was cutting edge.
