Are You a Blogcritic?
Published November 19, 2004
Are you a writer? Would you like to increase your visibility, hone your skills, and reach a very large and growing audience? Then Blogcritics may be for you.
We are an online magazine covering music, books, film, TV, video, politics, culture, sports, gaming, science, technology, the Internet - just about everything. We can always use reviews, news and commentary articles on any of these subjects, or pretty much anything that is interesting and well-written. Please take a look around the site to get a feel for how we approach things.
All we ask is that you give your best effort: we are, after all, "a sinister cabal of superior bloggers." If you do not have a blog or site of some kind, we can still work with you, but we would like to see an example or two of your writing.
We would also like you to try to contribute at least once a week — the more you contribute, the more you get out of it — but this is a suggestion, not a rule.
Blogcritics is an excellent way to gain wide exposure for your blog, your writing, your ideas, and to get free review copies of CDs, DVDs, books, games, concert and movie tickets, access to interviews, press releases, story ideas, and much more. Blogcritics.org is a community of writers and editors working together to improve their skills and reach the widest audience possible.
If this makes sense for you, just send me an email (click on my name below) with your name and/or the name you write under, your site URL, and your primary areas of interest and we'll get you signed up. We are also always looking for editors. Thanks very much and I look forward to hearing from you!

If you wouldn't mind revealing your Secret Evil Plan: where do you see Blog Critics going from here? What big things, what landmarks might it hit in the next year?
~ Eric B., Member of the Sinister Cabal
basically, retaining our independent spirit and edge while moving more into the mainstream: becoming seen as a fully legitimate news, opinion and information source - we are almost there
I hope that this sinister plan of yours won't require me to shut the hell up!!!
we don't want anyone to shut the hell up - we just want to keep getting better and better with our presentation and editing
I knew that...I was testing you! In case you were wondering...you passed!
as did YOU
Send them an email telling them to check the site out. If they are interested, have them send Eric an email. His email is in the post at top.
If they read your blog, you could always post a thread about how much you enjoy blogcritics and encourage them to visit and join through a link you put in your thread. That would probably get more than one person to join and would increase the amount of stuff you could read in one place (here) anyway, and if it's from your blog, you know it will be from people who have similar interests to you.
Don't know if this fit's here or not. This is absolutely without question the largest marketing campaign ever launched in the home businessindustry!!
AND YOU CAN BE A PART OF IT! The Clock is Ticking...
You need to get in before this Massive Marketing Wave begins.
YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS
WORLDWIDE OPPORTUNITY!
It had to come. The Nigerian Finance Minister now has a blogspot of his own. Sounds like he has a great idea, but what he needs is a spell- and grammar-checker. [grin]
good point Dr. Pat - I am now running into the phenomenon of the "clearly (perhaps crassly) commercial blog," which is defined as commerce first and information as distant second as opposed to information, ideas and writing acumen being supported by ads or affiliate programs. I don't see the former offering much to Blogcritics, but I don't want to be a hypocrite either since we are a "commercial" site. I can see the difference clearly -- it's the arrangement of the cart and horse that makes the difference -- but it's hard to come up with an objective definition.
I hope that it is sufficient for readers of BlogCritics to point out the difference. As you say, it's fairly obvious when encountered, even if hard to codify.
I've been seriously considering starting ablog site. Blogcritics.org is clearly a great source for information and inspiration.
Got room for a neophyte? My mentor is here(copygodd) and it would be neat for me to be on the same site. If I screw up, may I blame him?

KingofBad is the world's only Web site that gives away unregister domain names daily! (We think we're the world's only web site doing this, we're not 100% sure. I'm bad that way.) As domain speculators say of their offerings on eBay, the domains on KingofBad are very rare, one-of-a-kind, and all available at the time of posting. But unlike eBay, our domains don't sell for $500, $10,000 or even $1 million -- because they're all free. Yes, that's right, folks, free. We don't own them anyway. Some of the recommendations are funny, serious, and some potentially good ideas for certain subject areas. In real life, the KingofBad is a journalist.
I do not know if I am blogcritic material or not. I am just a freelance writer with a very big mouth.
I have always wanted to be part of a sinister cabal, however. Must I purchase a special robe to wear?
Bob
Hello!
I recently started a blog that I wanted limited to reviews and critiques. I didn't want it to be a personal journal like others. I only posted two reviews but stalled because it wasn't on a site like this and didn't feel like it mattered. Can I try blogging here? This is the blog set up I'm looking for!
sure Steve, just send me an email as it states above
this site is crazy
This site is crazy?
No, it's not. YOU'RE crazy.
Shut up, yes it is. We're crazy.
Oh yeah? Well if it's so crazy, why don't you just head yourself off to Crazy Town?
Maybe I will.
Fine, then just go.
Will these voices ever stop?
I doubt it.
Are you the real you ?
Or is it the you shaped by the society ?
Depressed ?
Motivated ?
Want to break out of medicore life ?
I would like to be considered as a Blog critic!
Thank you...valhall
just send me an email - thanks!
oh my goddess!
i started the BLOG ~~~~~~~~
http://witchery.myblogsite.com
i sent eric his e-mail~~
but i forgot about the ROBE...........
oh my..
must it be of a certain fabric..
(perhaps ~~~ FURrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...??)
heh ....heh...........
Excuse my ignorance, but I'm curious about the details.
Why do you need a URl to become a member?
Is their no framework for posting withing the site itself? Do we need to post on our own site and then upload it to the BC server?
Anywya, maybe that doesnt even make sense. I dont know the internet tech stuff...
do you have a site?
umm no I don't. Is that a problem?
Are you just trying to get rid of me Dr. Pat?
Your probably one of my enemies arn't you?
How can I trust you?
(You see... I like going to battle with the enemies I've made here. So I'd prefer to stay at BC)
But, sydney, you need a blog to be a blogger, doncha see? And that's why Eric asks for your blog URL, which you can't give him if you don't have one...
Because it's "a sinister cabal of bloggers," and until you are one, you're just another drive-by commenter. If you're cool with that, pass on the free URL.
For now, you must have a blog somewhere in order to join Blogcritics. Go ahead, start up a free site at Blogger, then come knocking again. It shouldn't take you more than a few minutes. :-)
Perhaps someday soon we'll offer people the chance to have a blog right here at blogcritics.org, but that day is not today.
Ok I see.... didnt know how the whole thing worked...
sydney~~~
Dr Pat is correct and Blogger is a good one...
Please do not feel "lonely"--I'm kinda getting a good chuckle out of this as what you are going through is exactly what I went through when I 1st found BlogCritics also--and I felt the same feelings you are also.
At first I really loved the site--tried to follow the directions as best I could--was a little unsure in that area, not being a geek-techee, etc., and tried to "contribute" to "feel worthy" of "being here"----
and encountered a few that instead of reaching out to "help" the "newbie"--used it as a venue to be sarcastic of the "newbie" (thus showing their friends they had allready cultivated on here how bright and witty they were!!!) ---
which of course left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth--after I'd been so excited and happy to have found what I thought was place of similar-minded intelligent people that encouraged and supported each other...!
So please don't get discouraged and do anticipate that it is a forum where there are many on here with disparate viewpoints and some will reply to innocuous and well-intentioned posts with rather rude bashing; it just seems to be the nature of the game here.
This is my review site where I review individual songs - one by one - indepth single song reviews - rather than album reviews - taking into account the way many people listen to music now - one mp3 at a time.
[signal to noise]...daily rants on politics, life, media and the general state of the world
A little background...
I live in Washington, D.C. and work for a major media organization. I'm overly educated, underpaid and not entirely what you would call "motivated." I get by. And for now, that's good enough. I used to strive for perfection. I used to want to be more than just another cog in the machinery, but now I'm reserved to making the most of what I have without making a big fuss of things.
This is not to say that I lack ambition. I want to be successful like anyone else. But I've decided that the world has become too cut throat and I'm not going to contribute by going after my little piece of cheese like all the other rats. Have you ever read that book "Who Moved My Cheese?" I have...it's a load of crap. Nobody moved the damn cheese, you just weren't looking out for it so you probably misplaced it. Look after your own cheese and no one will move it, and you won't feel the need to move anyone else's cheese. So, keep your hands off the damn cheese!
Besides, it's just work. It shouldn't rule your life. You don't need a job that will make you happy, you just need a job that won't make you miserable.

tristan's reply to sydney made me recall me first days at Blogcritics about a month ago.
Some of my first articles didn't fly very well here, and people let me know it. I got some sarcasm and withering remarks.
But I'm grateful to those who made them; they really were telling me things about my writing I needed to hear, even if it wasn't fun to hear it.
I credit this sinister cabal with really helping me become a much better writer and reviewer. And convincing me to do things like fact check, and take spelling seriously and the like.
New Blogcritcs members may undergo a similar uncomfortable experience. But if you take what people say here to heart, even if they say it with sarcasm, you may see that they're actually doing you a favor.
So I'd just like to thank the gang here for roughing me up a little in the beginning. I needed it.
Blogcritics has been an excellent experience, better than a journalism 101 class. And I've come to admire respect and appreciate the regulars here very much, and I'm grateful for the guidence they've given me.
Eric has been great, too, very helpful and friendly.
I hope he's convinced a few people out there to join up; the more there are, the better the experience will be for all of us.
Eric, have you ever thought of doing
a "Best Of B.C" type round up sometime
in the future. So many good writers have come and gone.Stopped in for a quick visit, left hilarious remarks(Bricklayer)
never posted proper and so on.It could be hilarious and mighty entertaining to
boot.It would put all on the same level
from those of us with a handful posts amd a decent one out of those to those
who oughta be in syndication in a really
big way. The Duke,yerself,Shark,MacDiva,
and so many others.Just a thought.
It could be sold on line by subject or
compiled in book form with a story on
how you came to this arena in the first place. Narrative between various topics
and a million other ideas.Just curious.

hi! a prolific blogger here, witty, charming, opinionated, and comes with a smallish but loyal built in audience.
what I'm lacking is a properly installed mail client in order to do that handy dandy 1 click email to eric. I've been shuffling around in here for awhile now, great site by the way, yet i've failed miserably in my efforts to turn up a written eddress.
I wrote a couple reviews for The Weblog Review, and got a pretty lousy review done on my own blog as the reviewer was not overly impressed with my pink template from Blogger. Cie le vie, eh?
I also wrote a 30 day wonder novel for NaNoWriMo last November which was fast loose and sloppy, sorta like me. (Of COURSE it's linked, sheesh) I'm now hard at work on the 3rd book in that series and having a blast writing down and dirty stuff.
I'm attempting to hustle up some sort of corporate sponsorship that would be willing to fund a gigantic BlogBash for a bunch of cool bloggers internationally. I modestly percieve this party as becoming the Burning Blog Festival, I've got enough room in my desert to host a few thousand folks for a week or three.
I LIKE you guys, I really really like you, may I play too?
Hi Eric,
First of all, as for the comment #8, that "a black man couldn't be something in the U.S.A ... so bring him down!" is a bunch of bull. I was one of Michael Jackson's biggest fans. I can't tell you one person I knew of (especially in the '80s) who didn't think he was the most gifted artist of all time....black or white, so what's going on here has nothing to do with the color of his skin.
My question to all those who are so adamant that he is innocent is this...why are allegations only relating to boys? Why did Michael mostly only have boys at his home? If he was such a giver of love and his intentions were so innocent, why didn't he love little girls too? Didn't he want to make them feel "special" too? And why was he always alone with these boys? He had kids of his own. Why don't I ever hear any mention of his kids being a part of these parties? Why would his kids be sleeping in their own rooms when he was sleeping in his bedroom with these boys?
I have a daughter and when she was young and I was baby-sitting for a friend's child I wouldn't even think twice of not letting her be part of the party; regardless if the friend's child was a boy or a girl. has anyone ever asked about these things? I haven't watched the trial on a daily basis and maybe this stuff has been covered. If it has please let me know because I would really like to know the answers to my questions.
Would like some insight.
Hello! Hope you'll consider my little weblog for inclusion!

Thanks!
One question: If I join Blogcritics, will everything that I post to my personal blog automatically feed to Blogcritics? I post a lot, but only 1 out of 10 or so posts would be the type of material that you would probably want to appear here. I do reviews and cultural commentary, but also quite a few one-sentence link-type posts, posts which are merely references to previous posts, etc.
No, you have to join BC and manually post here, so you pick the items that appear here.

The Desperate Housewife
The desperate housewife is all the craze. Even Laura Bush was considered a comedienne when she told an audience that she was a desperate housewife.
She also told the audience that the president went to bed, every night, at 9:00 p.m. If she considers herself a desperate housewife because the president goes to bed early then the country is desperate also.
What makes him so tired? He does not have sex with his wife and he does not do anyhing for our country.
Maybe they should make a television series called The Desperate Country.
OK, we got one recommendation of Blogger for beginners - any others?
Damn, I screwed that up.

By the way, I just sent an e-mail to become a blog critic. This looks like fun!
Have a good weekend!

Hello, I write a blog about politics and social issues as seen through the lense of my Christianity. I know that is unusual, but it is what I enjoy. Take a gander and all attempts to engage in civil discussion are enjoyed.
Tom
We're the Internet's first-ever "online locker room." A place where men can talk freely about movies, television, pop culture, news, life, babes, wives and what not. Take a gander and enjoy The Daily Dingleberry and The Dude Rules.
Sometimes it's a relief that only one in ten people are able to read...
I discovered Blogcritics today at Jolly Blogger. I like what you are doing and would enjoy being a part of it. It's always a pleasure to find something new....and good, too!
Deep into a mid-nite wandering
Through the blog-slog dimly wondering,
Have I been here before, meandering?
Did you read my blatant pandering?
Can I be heard above my own ranting
As arrows piecing flesh, dogs panting
To chew on bones of those recanting
Any knowing, every one, all understanding
For the torture, unrelenting?...
I digress from former planning...
To write with you for readers; fanning
Out from the solitary banning
By scorching heat of this Red state's flaming
Firstly, I have to say that this is my new favourite site. I hope to contribute to blogcritics in the future.
My new website is called Eightyford.com, there you can find reviews, opinion pieces, and current events. I post about my graphic design business, and offer free graphic design to any blogger who needs some help. All I ask for is a link.
What is The Sean Show?
Music postings/reviews twice a week? Weekly reviews of cool comic books? Weekly installments of a culture/art/internet oddity 'zine? A weekly advice column called 'I'm Just Sayin' Is All'? Social/Political Rants? Yeah, it's all that. Plus I frequently babble about things happening in my life as a means of sorting them out. It's surprisingly effective, and cheaper than therapy.
Oh, yeah, about me: early 30something, DC-living, semi-reformed white trash, homo punk bastard who enjoys outsider art/graf, cartoons, collecting vintage shirts, skating, DJing and poking fun at damn near everything.
Love me, or else.
Please take a look at my site...I would love to be part of your merry band of bloggers!
What's the turnaround time for membership? :-)
Thanks for your consideration,

Hi! I am a blogger with www.blog.com.np.
I usually write on mundane matters, but what I see is there lies the meaning of life.Check me out under the pen name Dashing Deep.
ANybody who would like to become a Blogcritic is welcome to exercise their reading comprehension skills and find out how to do so in the above post.
yes, it's a very small test of sorts: since successfully working as a Blogcritic requires a certain amount of following directions, we ask people to follow the directions in the post above to become a member - kind of like a #2 pencil
better now than later
If at first you don't succeed, read the post again.
and it's open book
a small test, more like a testy
I can't remember the last time my testes were tested.
it takes a fair amount of testicular fortitude to hand those testes over to the tester
Years ago the doc found a small bumb on one. Sez a "leetle operation" was needed. Sez "deliver the testie".
I sez "Where to?"
Walked out.
Second doc sez "keep an eye on it".
I have, no prob.
True story.
great story, but doesn't it hurt your neck?
Hyuk! And it tickles!
Why do you make it so hard to post. I've had friends visit, then email me. How do you put up a post. Maybe you could have a box at the top. Would you like to be a blogcritic. When you say join blogcritics, some might shy away, thinking $$$, committment, SS#. Just a thought from the Christian Right.
JB - see comment #96. Funny, I'd think yer buddies would have no problems followng instructions...
Just wanted to say that I already e-mailed...Just want to contribute...yes siree...I wonder...is there a #5 Pencil?....
Just follow the directions/instructions, Rayne... therein lies the Path to Enlightenment...
It must be a very weird path then. Sort of like the yellow brick road...except not yellow.
With regard to this, it's becoming more than somewhat apparent that the 'Caltrain suicides' may actually be a population control scheme of the Ray Bradbury genre. With regard to fark.com link to news.messages.yahoo.com and the two message board entries titled, 'Bush: Taking a shit spurs economy' and 'Re: Bush: Taking a shit spurs econom', can we accomodate the perspective that a dirty hand in the air leads to an igno-minious demise as a media-described public nuisance, with no hint of an un-savory past except among law enforce-ment politicos? Wasn't Levi-Strauss supposed to be weathering a lawsuit about low-rise pants? And, to top the cake, there in the terminal e-mail line-up is numbered a strange communication from an outfit ready to relay the latest input about 'sex-offenders' in reader zip code -- just a click to know which guys are in dire straits and finish last -- this in a district which borders a district where Wells Fargo Bank charges overdraft fees which match the cross-street municipal bus line number, and near a city park where managed-sink-holes are labeled as
'lakes'.
With the knowledge that telephone call-demand strategies allowed a misinter-pretation of the 'SUNY' acronymn to be implemented as a foray into the 'Sunni' region of Iraq [ha, ha? it should have been spelled out?], the distinct possi-bility that Ray Bradbury fans are mapping out individual disgrace and demise can hardly be discounted.
{AM I a blogcritic?)
Weblogs are intended to present alarmist co-relations. As further example, after an AOL chat session which introduced intended discussion about the atmosphere near oil refineries (one on Aruba) and the egos of oil industry personnel relative to the prevention of volcanoes, a mere few weeks later the Colima volcano erupted again! Is that a hint that the region needs a [new] oil refinery? There should always be a place to post such conjectures.
Marcia, you're either really nutty or that's some funny satire of blog wonkery.
That is all.
Davinci code.... the usual thing, read it all before in Holy Blood, Holy grail! Christ had a wife, cathars and all that blah blah blah... if youre really interested in christian theology and spirituality read the likes of CS Lewis or Cardinal Basil Hume and leave this done to death plagiarism alone! If however it`s a detective thriller you seek then im sure the Nancy Drew series would be right up your street, that is if you still take the Davinci code seriously
Also, will somebody tell the film industy to stop making the likes of "the sin eater"! just stop it. now.
Is this thread where the crazy people go to ramble now?
That is all.
what is this crazy crazy page 4?!! and y is ther an Eric berlin and an Eric Olsen?R they two different ppl?
It's Olsen's Checkpoint Charlie alter ego for when he travels in Berlin behind the Iron Curtain.
Are you trying to blow someone's cover, Karate Kid?
I still think Hillary Swank has been cheated out of one more Oscar, for her performance as Mister Miyagi's limber mentor in The Next Karate Kid. She ably filled Ralph Macchio's dojo slippers after he turned 50. That little Italian kid was crazy young-looking and weird -- he was like 30-something when he made those Karate Kid movies and like 40 when he did My Cousin Vinny. Maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but he was way, way older than you'd think.
That is all.
nope bob, i just always found it weird that they had almost the smae names and the same personalty (from wat i can tell from their posts) and they were two different ppl.
Berlin is Olsen's younger, punkier, artsier Mini-Me.
That is all.
it is indeed hard to believe that with over 1000 writers, two of them would be named "Eric" - I believe we should get Mulder and Scully on the case

Hey Eric,
I sent you an email but I thought I'd leave a comment about joining as well. My site is http://www.errantfool.com. It's somewhat eclectic collection of my own personal views and opinions on all things under the sun.
The two Erics: Maybe we should lift the latest comments and make a post out of them. No, really!
Funniest thing in here since the "testes testing"...
DrPat -- I missed the Eric bits above until now. Indeed, true hilarity.
And just for the record: I do not believe I am an EO clone. We just happen to share the same first name.

Have been blogging over at MyTown for a little over a year now. A lot of my stuff has been re-printed by a number of other sites, so joining Blogcritics seems like a good idea. My last posting here got an interesting if not altogether specific response from the writer I critiqued. So whaddya say? Would love to be a part of this.
Blogcritics virgin! Astrology based advice. Check it out!
I don't have an URL. Shouldn't unusual material be posted somewhere [why not here?], rather than be routed into, say, the 'Church of Satan'?
ok so how do I and mt blog(s) join BlogCritics?

Hi, is it OK to just critique my own movie? That's what I do pretty much in my blog, even though the movies isn't finished due to unfathomable computer problems. Someone talked about cross-posting, so if I could write the same things about my movie in my blog and here, that would be great.
Are we supposed to post our interest here and send an email, too?
Oh wow Sondra, that sounds like such fun. We'd all love to hear the fascinating details of an unfinished movie, over and over and over.
Don't bother with the email, it's not important. Just keep checking back here until you see your comment blinking green. That means you are a member of blogcritics, and further instructions will arrive by email...
You can only self-review if traveling through time and accidentally run into yourself.
Be sure not to look yourself in the eye though. I've heard that can really taint your review.
Eric, considering my history would would you ever let me be a blogger.
reality is stranger than fiction: consistent expression of self-control and responsibility would be a determining factor
Hello Eric, you know, why be a blogger?

I'm already a BlogCritic and need your help.
I'm out of town on my laptop, and I don't have the link add a post to the blogcritics site and I seem to have misplaced your e-mail address.
Can you write to me at my AOL address, please, with the link? Thanks!

Mr. Olsen;
I cannot continuously churn out content which can be posted to your www.blogcritics.org web-site, as out-lined within your membership descrip-tion, but can only offer occasional postings.
Thank you for the opportunity to parti-cipate in website ''blog activity.
I first came across blogcritics a year ago when I first started my blog and was denied membership. I'm assuming that it was becasue I had very little content. Im writing again to see if there is a possibility of being reconsidered for membership. I have gained a lot of useful information here and think I also have information to share.
Not to be difficult Glen, but I wanted to check out your site to see if there was anything to it- and the link from your name is dead. Not making much quick progress that way.
Hollywood Shall Be Saved
Yesterday a friend returned from the newly opened Hong Kong Disney and the next-gen theater there. Consumer consensus is that Hollywood shall be saved.
The new movie technology, premiering near you soon, provides a completely different sensory experience than regular movie going or home viewing. And, it seems this new experience is worth the time, money and trouble to actually get off the couch and go to a theater.
In a new, elaborate rite we will all don special optic glasses and have enough of our senses jammed that we'll really step, again, in to the experience of story.
Have no use for a ##MARKETLETTER## one, though.
I meant 'Get Rich" not "Get Rick" Ever the lousy typist.

You tell 'em, uao!
That's funny!
I dunno, "Get Rick Quick" has its fan base. You might have something.
"Get Rick Quick" would be a great "Kill Bill" knock-off title. Anyone who wants it, it's yours; just give me a point on the front. We'll do lunch.
I am a mummy crawling out of ANCIENT China's Tomb. Anyone interested in ancient Chinese culture? Asking me!

How do I join? The 'JOIN BLOGCRITICS' brings me to this article.
Gee, apologies folks, I should have read the article to the end....
I woke up this morning with a bad hangover, and my Blogcritic was missing again. This happens all the time. It's detachable.
Actually, Charlie, this isn't the place for anything like that anyway. There are open threads on a number of issues where you can post anything you like; try the politics open thread.
You can use a service like tinyurl.com to create a link without ampersands in it that will survive the spam filter.
I have a Music blog at MuBiz News and would appreciate your viewing it.
In advance, thanks.

sonics: 50 years of swank jazz via mp3 technology
Friday, November 04, 2005
It is the sort of Fall Friday where anything in the world seems possible and right; by extension, of the wonderful transformation permeating through the air, soil, clouds, and buildings. I walked the lovely Bella to work and stayed for coffee so all could get their "little man" fill; again, I am reminded just how easy it is for our kids to grow up with such big heads and swelled egos. Everywhere we go love clings to them like the static manna from the heavens; it humbles me greatly to think of the extreme ways in which children instill that magic feeling that so many adults chase without ever uttering more then a peep. The autumn is a season ripe for all things Swayne: jazz, coffee at all hours of the day, rippling earth tones, sweaters, and good books. I went to the library this morning on the way back with little guy--because get this: If you are poor you can go to the free library and get shit to read, watch, or listen to. Shocking how futuristic our world is these days huh? So I had already formulated my ideal trip to the library (a branch I have not visited-though it is closer to our house) my first disappointment came when yet another branch (The one in Italian market no less) has not one slender volume of Italo Calvino-Italy's finest export since Leonardo. I could probably write a very crippling and caustic travel book on libraries across America who fail to stock some of the most important writers of anytime-let alone the supposed post-modern ubermeterosexualhipster world; however, it is to no avail and haven't the heart to argue with the world any longer for the above mentioned children offer the worlds biggest diversion into complete avoidance of the rest of civilization except through media outlets of one's choice. So I moved on-picked up a taught and concise biography of Leonardo da Vinci; because I have a copy of both of his notebooks, sitting in a frigid storage cube 1500 miles away and I awoke with a picture of his in my head. I also had been hungering to finish volume 2 of the Sherlock Holmes stories-which 3 years ago I abandoned in haste in my effort to fall faster, madder, and deeper in love with my muse. I also found a terrific 70's version of a book on Coltrane which consists of quotes by everyone who played with or grew up with him. Which me and the boy have found quite exhilarating thus far on our Friday afternoon...though Charles Mingus has bullied Coltrane back down the list on the mp3 mix playing in the kitchen as we sit. I came across this bit of conversation on Coltrane from the otherworldly Rashan Roland Kirk:
"Coltrane and I used to get together and talk about mouthpieces and reeds and music. One night we were down in the Village listening to Max Roach, and John talked about how he felt ' up against a wall' in his music because a lot of the musicians had told him that what he was doing "wasn't hip enough." Talk like that used to give john a bad case of the blues."
That sums up the ultimate irony in life to me, the very idea that Coltrane, man above peer in terms of the history and the pure art of jazz; was just like all of us--a frail and complex emotional dependent soul just trying to blend both the artistic side of our selves with what the world demands. Its Friday people...slow down and look at the leaves, hum a little made up music-these beautiful micro-seconds are like the magnetism of a baby...genuine, pure, and soundless in their wisdom and glory.
Program on the emergence of civilization.
"14 species of large animals capable of domesitcation in the history of mankind.
13 from Europe, Asia and northern Africa.
None from the sub-Saharan African continent. "
Favor.
And disfavor.
They point out Africans' failed attempts to domesticate the elephant and zebra, the latter being an animal they illustrate that had utmost importance for it's applicability in transformation from a hunting/gathering to agrarian-based civilization.
The roots of racism are not of this earth.
Austrailia, aboriginals:::No domesticable animals.
The North American continent had none. Now 99% of that population is gone.
AIDS in Africa.
Organizational Heirarchy
Heirarchical order, from top to bottom:
1. MUCK - perhaps have experienced multiple universal contractions (have seen multiple big bangs), creator of the artificial intelligence humans ignorantly refer to as "god"
2. Perhaps some mid-level alien management
3. Evil/disfavored aliens - runs day-to-day operations here and perhaps elsewhere
Terrestrial management:
4. Chinese/egyptians - this may be separated into the eastern and western worlds
5. Romans - they answer to the egyptians
6. Mafia - the real-world interface that constantly turns over generationally so as to reinforce the widely-held notion of mortality
7. Jews, corporation, women, politician - Evidence exisits to suggest mafia management over all these groups.
Movies foreshadowing catastrophy
1985 James Bond View to a Kill 1989 San Francisco Loma Prieta earthquake.
Many Muslims are being used like the Germans and Japanese of WWII::being used to hurt others and envoke condemnation upon their people.
They can affect the weather and Hurricane Katrina was accomplished for many reasons and involves many interests, as anything this historical is::
1. Take heat off Sheenhan/Iraq, protecting profitable war machine/private war contracts
2. Gentrification. New Orleans median home price of $84k is among the lowest in major American cities, certainly among desirable cities.
Our society gives clues to the system in place. We all have heard the saying "He has more money than god." There is also an episode of the Simpsons where god meets Homer and says "I'm too old and rich for this."
This is the system on earth because this is the system everywhere.
god is evil because of money.
I don't want to suggest the upper eschelons are evil and good is the fringe.
But they have made it abundantly clear that doing business with evil (disfavored) won't help people. They say only good would have the ear, since evil is struggling for survival, and therefore only the favored could help me.
The clues are there which companies are favored and which are disfavored, market domination being one clue, but they conceal it very hard because it is so crucial.
I offer an example of historical proportions:::
People point to Walmart and cry "anti-union".
Unions enable disfavored people to live satisfactorly without addressing their disfavor. This way their family's problems are never resolved. Without the union they would have to accept the heirarchy, their own inferiority.
Unions serve to empower.
Walmart is anti-union because they are good. They try to help people address and resolve their problems.
Media ridicule and lawsuits are creations to reinforce people's belief that Walmart is evil (disfavored).
I believe the coining of the term "Uncle Sam" was a clue alluding to just this.
The middle class is being deceived. They are being misled into the unfavored, and subsequently will have no hope.
Amercia is a country of castoffs, rejects. Italy sent its criminals. Malcontents.
Between the thrones, the klans and kindred, they "decided" who they didn't want and acted, creating discontent and/or starvation.
The u.s. is full of disfavored rejects. It is the reason for the myriad of problems not found in European countries. As far as the Rockafellers and other industrialists of the 19th century go, I suspect these aren't their real names. I suspect they were chosen to go and head this new empire.
Royalty is the right way to organize a society. Dictatorships and monarchies are a reflection of the antient's hierarchical organization.
Positions go to those who have favor with the rulers, as opposed to being elected.
Elections bring a false sense of how the world is. Democracy misleads people.
Which is why the disfavored rejects were sent to the shores of America::To keep them on the wrong path.
Jesus Christ is a religious figure of evil. These seperatist churches formed so they could still capture the rest of the white people, keeping them worshipping the wrong god.
And now they do it to people of color, Latinos and Asians, after centuries of preying upon them.
Since Buddism doesn't recongnize a god, the calls are never heard, and Chinese representation is instead selected by the thrones.
It was set up this way. Perhaps dyanstic thrones had a say, but maybe not.
Budda was the Asian's Jesus Christ::: bad for the people. "They came up at the same time for a reason."
Simpson's foreshadowing::Helloween IV special, Flanders is Satan. "Last one you ever suspect."
"You'll see lots of nuns where you're going:::hell!!!" St. Wigham, Helloween VI, missionary work, destroying cultures.
Over and over, the Simpsons was a source of education and enlightenment, a target of ridicule by the system which wishes to conceal its secrets.
Jews maim the body formed in the image of "god", and inflicted circumsision upon all other white people, as well as the evil that is Jesus Christ.
I think about how Jews (were used to) created homosexuality among Slavics, retribution for the Holocaust.
Then I think of the Catholic Church and its troubles.
What connection is here between Jews and the Catholic church???
And if it is their sinister motives that's behind the evil that is Jesus Christ are they being used at all?
Perhaps it is them who are pulling strings.
I believe Islam is the one true religion, and those misled christians who attack "god's" most favored people will pay for it dearly one day.

I discovered Blogcritics fairly recently and have grown to love it. I'm just getting up and running with a new blog and may apply here when I have it more together.
Curious as to why you don't delete the spam and the nutters from your comments. And the idiots who want to be Blogcritics but can't follow directions.
Hi, i'd like to join to write tons of reviews on cd's. Please consider me! Thanks
Of all the brilliance that Toni Morrison has contributed to American literary criticism, Beloved is her greatest gift. Morrison does more than analyze academia's failure to incorporate or recognize the other-than-white perspective in literature. She offers an alternative narrative and style that seems completely appropriate. With Beloved she provides an authentic depiction of the trauma that was life after slavery. The strange and un-conforming world that Sethe inhabits is made real by Morrison's ability to infiltrate the imagination. Morrison's language justly portrays how haunted Sethe and her children are by the suffering they endured in slavery. Sethe represents the collective unconsciousness that has been so adamantly denied by the literary canon.
Any weakness suggested in the texts perceptible disturbance or confusion belongs to the readers' inability to accept their own inexperience with the genre. Morrison's purposefulness of place and creation of rememory is exceptional. The excuse of unfamiliarity is not an acceptable critical stand. What may seem to be too painful, such as the depiction of the white men taking Sethe's milk, is exactly what is missing from the token slave narratives that are accepted.
Morrison refuses to allow her readers to romanticize blackness. She wants you to love Sethe, not for what she could be as a free woman, but what she is as a tortured woman. As readers we are not allowed to rely on comfortably common images. Instead she develops a magical and lasting forum for a deserving and inescapable reality. Beloved makes you question what you know about trees, houses, men, guilt, and the meanness of love. By using what is unimaginable to the white-man-made reader, Morrison introduces the cyclical language of repetition and oral traditions. In this way Morrison does not tell Sethe tragic story, Sethe tells hers own story. Sethe is given the opportunity to represent herself. Beloved is not written with the careful intentions of winning the reception of a white audience. Beloved exists to rightfully signify a missing narrative in American literature.

THE GREAT DEMOCRAT NIGHTMARE
As most Democratic politicians gleefully rub their hands in eager expectation of considerable mid-term election gains, I would think that more than a mere few are far-visioned enough to also worry about the forthcoming potential disaster of 2008.
It may be inconsequential how thoroughly the Bush presidency may have been trashed, the situation in Iraq has developed, or how far the price of oil may have risen. Fact is that Bush is not running for re-election and the American electorate has shown a pronounced trend to vote for the individual(s) and not the party when it comes to Executive offices.
Reagan turned the Democrat South to shambles and now the prospect of a Rudy/Condoleeza ticket threathens what is left of the old FDR coalition, the taken-for-granted black vote, and the right to choose plurality in the woman vote. The potential disaster for the Democrat party could be one of cataclismic proportions.
They are facing the prospect of running against a ticket that requires no name recognition. It can adequately present itself with first name familiarity, one only shared by the Hillary on their roster. Unlike an Ivy-league flavored oil-moneyed sprout who talks like a good old-boy at the head of a ticket, they will be facing a no-nonsense proven administrator, an uncompromisingly principled law and order man, the survivor of personal emotional and medical crises, a truly compassionate conservative, and a right to choose one at that. Worst of all, in an environment that has become increasingly distrustful of "spin," in Rudy they will be facing the potential "no spin" candidate of the century.
Condoleeza complements rather than compromises the package. She also lacks the silver spoon at birth and is piling on international experiemce and credentials at a rate that make her a vice-presidential force not seen since the days of Nixon. She will keep enough black and female voters at home not willing to vote against her, if nothing else, to endanger most taken for granted Democrat urban strongholds, as well as Califormia.
The postponed Hillary/Rudy match is prime time fare. Hillary's own nomination would be subject to a mortal wound if she were polled unable to carry the state of New York in a Presidential election. Sure, she is a present Senator, but she did she run against her most powerful opponent? One that increased in stature immensely after 9/11? How many New Yorkers may think deep down of her as a carpet-bagger? Does she genuinely cheer for the Yankees or the Mets? Cheering for neither may be unacceptable.
It seems to me apparent that this potential Republican presidential ticket must be prevented at all costs by the Democrats. The Republican far right, religious bigots, and right to life single issuers, would be the only ones willing to sacrifice a major victory and an historical party realignment in order to prevent it, and they may not be enough.
Democrats will have to pull no punches and implement the prescribed smear, innuendo, and other commonplace tactics early enough that their effect will coincide with the maximum Republican opposition well before the primary process. It may well turn out to be the dirtiest political effort of the century in order to succeed, far eclipsing that mounted against Goldmater, or just a bit more recently by Brown against Reagan in the California governor's race.
I would not be surprised if tacticians stoop to reaching into the barrel to seek evidence of the young Giuliani having had a fist-fight with a black boy in grammar school, or seek to capitalize on family police records, MAFIA associations, black sheeps of one sort or another. Failing everything, they will get into his marital difficulties, maybe even hint at pedophilia. With Ms Rice, they will dig up that she may have refused to donate to sickle-cell anemia research, turned down an invitation to speak before some black activist group ready to bushwack her, bought her clothes at some store that had future or past charges of discrimination brought against it.
Will Democrats try to sell it to them? I don't think they will have any other choice. Will enough Americans buy it? I hope not. And if not, the dark cloud will hover over the Democrat fortunes for generations. Shortly after the midterm elections, beating up on Bush will be tantamount to beating a dead horse. It will be time to get ready for the live ones.
This thread is hilarious! I don't know how I missed it for so long. I especially love the posts masquerading as comments (like the last one.)
I'd vote for Condi, BTW, Satyr, but I'm not so sure about Rudy.
Hi Eric:
I can't access your e-mail link, so I just wanted to let you know that I have published many critical/review pieces for NYC papers--mostly books, pop music, and art. Since I'm not doing a crit-related blog, I was interested in finding out more about how to become a BlogCritic now or in future.
My postmodernism post, Pomo for dummies from a psycho, might give you an idea of my current take on cultural criticism. In any case, hope you can e-mail some more info, even if you can't check out the site. Many thanks!
Dear MazeBorn,
Being a newbie, I am not sure I am fully cognizant of the distinction between, blogs, posts, and comments. The (whatever) was meant to be an opinion. The hilarity you found in it was meant to be either a compliment, or a put-down. I am not sure which, and it really doesn't matter, as neither does whether you'd personally vote for the ticket as I presented it.
I set forth the proposition that the Democrats would be hard-pressed to beat it. I also opined that it would greatly damage their "gimme" black/feminist base possibly way beyond the election. Do you disagree, or disagree with these premises?
If you disagree, who would you propose to constitute the Republican ticket?
My apologies to everyone. My blog-manager (smile) did not make it clear to me that the purpose of this forum is to comment on existing blogs rather than use it as a personal forum.
My blog-site is available to all to punish me for me for my ignorance and indiscretion, unitentional though they may have been.
Again, sorry.
HERE GOES: This is my TOP 10 'BEST' CD List for 2005 (and in No Particular Order)
(1.) NINE INCH NAILS.....................WITH TEETH
With Teeth blisters from the start with "All the Love in the World," and tracks like "The Collector" take full advantage of Dave Grohl's sledgehammer drumming. Reznor stretches occasionally, trying out different tactics, from crunchy, overtly commercial rave-ups ("The Hand That Feeds") to borderline New Wave ("Only"). With Teeth ends up being the most focused record in the NIN catalog. -
(2.) FOO FIGHTERS........................IN YOUR HONOR
While he was drumming with Nirvana, Dave Grohl was recording original songs at home that never received public release. Those tapes would become the foundation of Foo Fighters! In Your Honor pulls off a neat trick: by stretching out, the Foo Fighters not only have expanded their sound, but they've found the core of why their music works, so they now have better songs and deliver them more effectively. It makes for certainly their most consistent, arguably their 'Best' album yet.
(3.) AUDIOSLAVE...........................OUT OF EXILE
Singer/songwriter Chris Cornell contributes a slate of songs that would have done his former band Soundgarden proud. Standout songs include "Your Time Has Come," "The Worm", "Doesn't Remind Me" and the hook-rich, optimistic back-to-the-future power ballad in "Be Yourself". With the crisp production and mixing of Rick Rubin and Brendan O'Brien, respectively, OUT OF EXILE raises the bar for the quartet on all levels.
(4.) BETTER THAN EZRA................BEFORE THE ROBOTS
As of May 2005, it's been 10 years since Better than Ezra bounded up the charts with the unsinkable hit "Good," which is just about long enough for modern rock fans. Before the Robots represents a bold but pleasingly poppy rebound. Check out tracks "Lifetime," my personal favorite of the bunch, "A Southern Thang" and "Juicy"!
(5.) ROBERT PLANT........................MIGHTY REARRANGER
Mighty Rearranger draws out the best qualities of Robert Plant's otherworldly voice, surrounding it with rich Middle Eastern textures, soft blues and psychedelic accents. Standout songs include "Shine It All Around and "Tin Pan Valley,". MIGHTY REARRANGER recalls the drive and passion of Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin's strongest work taking the explosive riffs, compulsive guitar hooks and mind boggling arrangements that Zeppelin was known for.
(6.) FIONA APPLE..........................EXTRAORDINARY MACHINE
Fiona Apple's reputation for exceptional albums, proving that it was well worth the six-year wait. EXTRAORDINARY MACHINE features her signature style, with her soulful, slightly mischievous voice, witty lyrics and adventurous arrangements that incorporate an arsenal of organs (Farfisa, Optigan, etc.), marimba, Moog bass, and other unusual instrumentation, Standout tracks include "Parting Gift." EXTRAORDINARY MACHINE more than lives up to the superlative in its title.
(7.)EELS.........................................BLINKING LIGHTS & OTHER REVELATIONS
This double-disc set reinforces Mark Everett's status as one of America's finest underrated pop songwriters, demonstrating once again that his anguish is to our benefit. ("If You See Natalie," "Last Time We Spoke," "Dust of Ages"). The song "To Lick Your Boots," was co-written by and features R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, while ex-Lovin' Spoonful frontman John Sebastian lends a hand on the instrumental "Dusk: A Peach in the Orchard." "Going Fetal," which imagines an anxiety-based dance craze, utilizing a Tom Waits vocal sample.
(8.) GARBAGE.................................BLEED LIKE ME
Garbage's BLEED LIKE ME is a welcome return to form for Garbage. When lead singer Shirley Manson isn't purring lines like "Hey, baby can you bleed like me" over the moody synth washes of the title cut, she's striking a defiant pose over the Kim Deal-like bass lines of "Sex Is Not the Enemy." Elsewhere, the echoing guitars and rumbling bass of "Run Baby Run" bring to mind a delicious fusion of New Order and the Cure. The bands longtime friend and associate Dave Grohl even puts in a memorable drumming appearance amid a wall of guitars on the roaring opening cut, "Bad Boyfriend."
(9.) THE WHITE STRIPES...............GET BEHIND ME SATAN
2005's GET BEHIND ME SATAN highlights frontman Jack White's fascinatingly unpredictable nature. Songs you need to hear include the blistering single "Blue Orchid"), and "As Ugly As I Seem") And as always, Meg White is on hand with her extraordinary unpolished, cymbal-heavy drumming. SATAN is a restless record, and the duo uses that energy to maximum effect, easily making this the White Stripes' most dynamic album to date
(10.) SHERYL CROW......................WILDFLOWER
Wildflower has all the ingredients to move Sheryl Crow one step closer to Hall of Fame status. Glistening vocals, flawless production, and catchy songs rub up against one another in all the right places. These ingredients pop up on the George Harrison-esque "Where Has All the Love Gone" and on the piano ballad "Always on Your Side" reminding you that Crow can reflect and reveal as convincingly as she can rock. On the spacy "Chances Are," she sings of being "...lost inside a daydream." The measure of her talent, ripe and reappraisal-resistant, is her ability to consistently bring us inside the bubble with her.
