Once again my region-free DVD player has proved more than worthy of its $79 CAD price tag. After seeing Shaun of the Dead I did a little research on the Internet Movie Database and found that writer/star Simon Pegg's previous claim to fame was a popular UK sitcom called Spaced, touted as the real Friends.

I quickly found a boxed set of the entire series on Amazon.co.uk and placed an order, which arrived at my door late last week. I watched about half of the first season last night, and came way both entertained and impressed. Spaced is so densely packed with pop culture references that the DVDs have a subtitle feature to point them all out.

What can I say about show that uses a tune by Prefab Sprout as a punchline? Brilliant!
