The Program, by Gregg Hurwitz, is a fast paced novel which will leave readers on the edge of their seats until the last word. It tells the story of Tim Rackley, a former United States Marshal who is called back into service in order to "rescue" a teenager from a powerful cult.
Although adept at deep undercover work, Rackley is forced to deal with his demons as he attempts to coax Leah Henning away from the group she now calls "family" and back into the arms of her mother and Hollywood producer father. There is an emotional roller coaster racing around Tim which helps him maintain his cover; namely the death of his daughter, Ginny.
Hurwirtz is adept at presenting the many facets of law enforcement to his readers. No matter how fulfilling the work, memories linger. One has to have a solid support system in place for the survival.
