It turns out that this issue brought out the right wing to vote yesterday and while they were there to vote against the gays they also voted for George Bush and his hollow promise of morality. They'll sleep better tonight and walk a little taller thinking that some good has been done and "God blessed George Bush".

When is it justified to shed blood?

The opinions that right wing conservatives hold are moral, self guided agendas which are all great if you are into that. But the same people that place their entire vote on abortion or stem cell research and then turn around and say it is ok to kill other foreigners to ensure our own safety are nothing but cowards — hypocrites of the worst kind.

Somehow it is inbred in our heads that killing is justified on the battlefield in the eyes of god. Why is that? Maybe it's our self centered society that we breed that misses the point of all this. We're just too wrapped up in our own lives to realize what we are really doing. I remember the pain of the mother in Fahrenheit 9/11 who lost her son - it was unbearable to watch. I see her every day when we lose another soldier in the headlines and I just can't imagine how that would feel. My life as I know it would be over. I see her face every day when we hear news that 100,000 Iraqis are now dead because of our actions overseas.

There is a better, more efficient way to go about beating terrorism? I believe that there is.

First, we need to figure out the sources of the terrorism problem and fix them (this will probably take the next 20-50 years) and second we need to hunt down and kill the people that drive the organizations and others who fill the ranks. This killing is justified in my mind. Inflicting violence on the innocence of other societies as a whole is like fuel on a fire. It leads to poverty, ignorance, hatred and it paints two big red horns on the face of America which will never result in a positive outcome. Is this moral? Absolutely not, but it is the Bush agenda from here on out. Pre-emptive war against other countries to crush terrorism and damn the consequences.

To accomplish the goals of a moral war on terror, it would take massive communication around the world with people we call "allies', massive intelligence re-organization and organization, massive law enforcement and security in our own country and a beefed up special forces branch of our military to hunt down individual terrorists. Now that we've wasted so much on accomplishing so little in Iraq we will never be able to do what I believe we really need to do at this point.

The last 4 sentences of this article says it all quite accurately. That is exactly what we are in for now that GWB has been re-elected.
