Regarding my comment about the Rove tactic, here is some more info. Note that I wrote this peice Friday night, and this info just came out this morning. That is what is so great about this administration, their evil can be counted on like clockwork. See read this,

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&e=1&u=/ap/misleading_voter_calls

and then let me add - told you so!

it is just more and more and more proof what a problem this group is.

The link, Andy, is to a campaign in in Kentucky, where a Republican is calling his opponent gay.

Thus, the technique Lono mentioned has filtered down to the Republican grassroots.

I would disagree with Lono that this is only a Rove technique - it's a continuation of the Gingrichian Republican technique I discussed in <a href="http://www.tude.com/blogged/blog0408.htm#p040821Wildeyed" target="_blank">The Wild-eyed Right Is Losing Their Cool And Becoming Unhinged</a>.
Hal - I looked at your link and I see no reference to Rove. I was just wondering how you put this together?

<i>"One last point: if there is one and only one play that Rove uses, (and I can honeslty give you 34 references) it is this: my opponent is gay!</i>

That technique seems to have made its way down to the trenches, and is being used in Kentucky:

<a href="http://www.thelouisvillechannel.com/politics/3872151/detail.html" target="_blank">Mongiardo Responds To 'Limp Wrist' Claims</a> (opens in new window)

And do you have a link to the other Rove plays?

RJ,

Bin Laden is no fool, and it doesn't behoove one to understimate one's enemy.

BTW:
If this conflict is decided based upon Bush and Bin Laden's IQs and ability to articulate a speech, then we've lost big-time.

No, RJ, she was not praising Osama and his ideology, she was acknowledging a very crafty performance and delivery and acknowledging that Osama was effective at what he set out to do. That does not imply praising his ideology. The distinction is clear.

"Osama is not just healthy and more articulate than Bush has ever been. He is relaxed and confident. His tweaking of Bush's nose -- 'you thought it more important to read to children about a goat' -- should go down in history. The timing of the tape. The masterful delivery. Brilliant. The GOP will try to claim Bush has not been humiliated. But he has been, thoroughly."

One last point: if there is one and only one play that Rove uses, (and I can honeslty give you 34 references) it is this: my opponent is gay! Seriously, look at every single campaign Rove has run. When issues don't cut it, your opponent is gay!

Not surprisingly, many of us all have missed the message Bin Laden was saying. I said it the day after 9/11. I think everyone knew it, but were afraid to say. The reason we were attacked by crazed arabs is because we back the jews. It is that simple. I am not pro-arab or pro-jew. Frankly, it is a very complex issue that my little mind can't handle. I admit, I am just a rock music guy.

However, Bin Laden's point was clear and no one will talk about it. As long as we back and bankroll the jews in the middle east... we are the enemy. Even if Kerry gets elected, we will not abandon Isreal. Ergo, we will be a target.

Get the fucking message people, Bin Laden doesn't hate freedom. That is a stupid Bushism. He hates America because we alone keep the Israeli nation alive though gobs and gobs of money. This isn't to say on any level we shouldn't be doing it. I won't pretend to understand internation policy.

But know this, and it is EXTREMELY simple. The message from Bin Laden is this: We are arabs. we hate the jews and the jews hate us. As long as America sides with the Jews, they are our mortal enemies. There are the facts, without taking sides.

I dare anyone in the world to explain it more simply and honestly than that.

Thanks,
lono

You mean like Gore tried to do when he requested recounts in only three counties, three democratic counties.

Wow! That whole situation is blowing my mind. Osama is not just healthy and more articulate than Bush has ever been. He is relaxed and confident. His tweaking of Bush's nose -- 'you thought it more important to read to children about a goat' -- should go down in history. The timing of the tape. The masterful delivery. Brilliant. The GOP will try to claim Bush has not been humiliated. But he has been, thoroughly.

But, how will it play with voters? The GOP hopes that more of them will come running to hide behind the skirts of the man who has failed to capture Osama for three years. I'm doubtful. Yes, Osama said neither candidate can protect the American people. But, I think more of them may decide to go with the person who has not already failed. The tape could make a difference in a very close election.

Interesting analogy - I agree that in a sane, balanced entity that a person charged with a task for 3 years would be out of that position at the least and reassigned

It's pure Karl Rove Playbook to pretend that you're confident your guy will win, even when the evidence suggests that it's not gonna happen.

I prefer to think that Kerry is likely to win, but that there are enough uncertain factors that it's uncallable. While I want a Kerry landslide, I can't say I'm able to predict one with RJ-like certainty.
