Inarticulate GOP Voters

Written by

So, I have a question: Are all of the children that were "left behind" now Republicans? It doesn't seem to me that should be the case, but with all these polls I have to wonder???

I pose this question for a very simple reason: I have not heard one Republican friend, family member, casual acquaintance, or total stranger be able to articulate in a clear and informed manner why they like Bush?

Even more intereseting is the fact that they are unable to form the words necessary to express why they insist on voting for him again.

I just don't get this country! All these Bushies do is resort to attacking the other side. I can understand why they do that, but it still doesn't answer the question of why they like him enough to vote for him again? When faced with such a wealth of un-spun information that illuminates the complete mismanagement of this nation, how can any voter still believe that Bush is a good option? Again, if he is worth voting for, why can't you tell me anything other than attacks on the other side? That is not answering my question!

How is it that people who are clearly at a cross-roads; feeling trapped somewhere between the voting habits of times-gone-by, and the factual horrors of this Administration, are unsure what to say or do??? I know why. You know why. I believe that they know why.

Because voting the way they always have in the past feels wrong. The old voting habits that used to tell them "it will all be OK" just aren't working. The old stand by of "it doesn't matter that much. No President can cause that much trouble for the country in just four years" isn't working for them this time either. The voters conscience is getting in the way of those lines of reasoning.

The history of this administration, the mounting lies we have been told, the unwavering commitment to WMD's, the open betrayal of our friends and allies. All these things, and so much more, add up to a hidden, well guarded, distrust. A fear. A question.

"Who am I gonna vote for?"

The reality is that these people are having a very hard time swallowing the fact that the Republican Party no longer is what they have thought it was all their lives. They are faced with the trauma of being left out in the cold by a political party that was always there in the past.

Well, get with the program gang. The old party is gone. The new one is here to stay. That is unless those frightened "but I always vote Republican" people decide to make it change! Votes are power. They send very clear and powerful messages to our leaders. If you want to return to the days of old, then tell them with your vote by NOT voting for the current GOP approach.

All these Bushies do is resort to attacking the other side.

Interesting statement, considering this is a 500+ word article that doesn't do anything except attack the other side.

Dave, what are you talking about? I saw one sentence (the very first) that directly insulted GOP voters. Everything else insulted their CHOICE, not their REASONING or MOTIVES.

No reason in your mind is a good reason to vote for Bush. Any reason anyone gave you would not be acceptable because it is the other viewpoint...

On the CBC radio they had a documentary about the problem of people with dementia being allowed to vote. And I thought, how bad could it be? Then I read this:

No reason in your mind is a good reason to vote for Bush.

As somebody probably said, well, duh. If I was Denny Crane, I would just say: "Denny Crane".

Art, so, what you're saying is, there is NO point for any of your articles to ever be posted? Could you follow through with that? Or will you continue to just use that as an excuse to ignore all counterpoints?

Well, if this site was dominated solely by Democrats and liberals there would be no point. But my hope is that there will be a few independents that read what I have to say and read what you have to say and then make their own decision. Hopefully they like what I have to say more than what they like yours.

If they read the comments, I'm sure they would find me the more amiable and you guys more vitriolic.

Gary, just as at a loss as you are about extreme attraction to George W. Bush, I have been considering that it might be homoerotic attraction.

MD, you just crack me up.

If she ever visits Dildo, Newfoundland, her head will probably explode.

And no, MD, we don't want to read your neo-con slash fiction.

Kerry is an "Articulate Fool".That is he can form his ideas into clear sentences
but if his ideation begins with a false
premise then what he says sounds good but
is logically gibberish. Some of his most
ardent supporters are guilty of same. The
problem with many articulate people is
that rationalization is easier for them
than straight talk. They would rather
blah-blah than self analyse.
For all his talk about being for the
middle class and the little guy he is a
big government man with big government
solutions. Like Clinton,he wanted to be
president from an early age. Like Gore he
thinks he deserves to be president. He
hasn't the imagination to be an effective
leader of a nation entering into a war
against a billion plus people with a world view radically at odds with our own.
Listen carefully to his commentary and
speechs. Is there any thing other than
the same old boilerplate put out by any
other democrat? He has never had an
original thought in his life.

Thanks, Roscoe, for the repeated example of something that "sounds good but
is logically gibberish."

Right on point.

And how about all the polls that show that Bush supporters are WRONG about most of the important facts related to Iraq and the terrorists; ie status of WMDs, Hussein's non-connection to 9/11, the number of Saudis that took down the twin towers, etc etc.?

And it turns out the Dems consistently have the correct info relative to all of that news.

Are Dems smarter, better informed, or both?

And are the Bush supporters stupid, gullible, or just too tuned into FOX, Rush, et al nutbar liars to be able to figure out the facts?

Or worse yet, do these GOP sheep pay too much attention to the LIES AND DISTORTIONS Bush, that lying scum Dick Cheney, et al in the administration constantly repeat OVER AND OVER?

If the constitution said you have the right to an informed opinion, most of the GOP's domesticated primates wouldn't be allowed to vote.

PS: Also note that Cheney says Iraq is a "...REMARKABLE SUCCESS STORY"

~ahahahahaha.

I also note that the deluge of ongoing "debate" on Blogcritics re. Iraq has winnowed down to a complete silence from our esteemed opponents from the Right.

Funny how the ongoing bad-to-worse news from their great "acccomplished mission" against the "terrorists" in Iraq has sorta fallen off the 'debate' radar hereabouts.

Where'd they go?

...Oh, wait, I forgot: Ignoring Reality is a source of pride with them.
