Alan Keyes is Anti-Adoption
Published October 19, 2004
Alan Keyes, former Republican presidential candidate and current long-shot Illinois senatorial candidate, has claimed that the children of gay parents will inevitably end up comitting incest simply because they do not know who their biological brothers and sisters are:
"Whether they mean it or not, that is what will happen. If you are masked from your knowing your biological parents, you are in danger of encountering brothers and sisters you have no knowledge of."What the...? While that's intended to be a screed against gay couples, it actually is anti-adoption, regardless of the couple's sexual status. When a gay couple adopts a child it doesn't magically erase the kid's files at the adoption agency or hospital, at least no more than it would if it were a straight couple.
Keyes has become a liability for the RNC, especially now considering the majority of Americans support gay adoptons and, obviously, the concept of adoption itself. It seems he's only running against Obama at this point to effectively end his political career, because there truly is no other explanation for his lacking performance.
All I can say: Good riddance.

Come on Diva, Alan Keyes is ignored by most everybody
I haven't been following this election very closely, but from what I have gathered, Keyes has completely misplaced his remaining marbles
If he garners 25% pf the vote, he'll claim a "moral" victory. It's that bad.
You're not gonna get me started here.
"Alan Keyes is ignored by most everybody" Except the Republicans who drafted him into this race. It's funny how many people the Republicans have to "apologize" for, Alan Keyes, druggy Rush Limbaugh, and now "lesbian" Mary Cheney and her "Ashamed" Mother Lynne.
People are judged by the company they keep, perhaps political parties shoud be too.
Keyes is so thoroughly getting his ass whooped in Illinois, that Barack Obama has been spending his time traveling to other states to help campaign for other Dems. He was here in Colorado just this week.
Keyes has about as much credibility right now as Nader.
But, he is smart in sneaky way. He does not have to win elections to keep his 'job.' All Keyes has to do is keep entering political races and collecting campaign funds. He will never have to cut another 9 to 5 for the rest of his life. And, he is assured of a small band of adoring fans. That is what Keyes lives for, not being a successful politician.
As someone who may be returning to a 9 to 5 gig next year, I have to give him credit for getting around the grind, albeit in an embarrassing way.
No, he's not anti-adoption... but he may be anti-CLOSED-adoption. As an adoptee who went thru this terrible self-and-health depriving system... in this very isolated instance, I'd have to agree. Never thought I'd agree with Keyes!
It's true, those that choose a sperm donor on line to inseminate one of them are putting their child in the horrible position of having to be grateful for being born without a father. My father was absent but at least I got a choice in knowing who he was. Closed adoption only serves wealthy selfish adopters that would rather have a baby look like them than help the 45,ooo kids in foster care!
I'm sure some of you are aware of this, but his daughter recently came out of the closet this spring. She did a pretty hyped TV interview on the news here in Chicago after Keyes disowned her and refused to pay her tuition at Harvard for being gay. She also said that she had already told him she was gay before the campaign. That's noteworthy because Keyes was asked how he would treat his daughter if she were gay as a hypothetical. Keyes infamously responded, "IF I had a gay daughter, I would tell her she's a selfish hedonist."
What a guy.
That is all.

Gay people cause incest? Alan Keyes is just. . .wack. The chances of adopted kids meeting and mating is nil. Besides, most contemporary adoptees know they are adopted. Any possiblity of dating a sibling is less than ever. Keyes has already made it clear he considers gays perverts, though, strangely, the GOP, including the Cheneys, ignored his remarks. Come to think of it, perhaps Alan Keyes is adopted. . .from another planet.
Justin, there is no chance Keyes will quit. He pays himself a salary out of campaign contributions, thereby making perennial runs for office a job.
