That's it? That's the lawyerly demonstration of what makes David Nolan right-wing? Yawn.

Yes, I believe he is a Right Winger, Mike K. (Why are there so many Mikes in the world? I promise not to further the confusion.) As for Mike Badnarik, he is screwball Right, a category missing from the diagram. Then there is the Mike from the Constitution Party. Another Right Winger, with actual embrace of a Christian theocracy thrown in for good measure. All three say they are libertarians. I also believe you are basically a Right Winger. In sheep's clothing, Mike K. Okay. A nice fleece vest, if it makes you feel better. (There's a very cool one in the Eddie Bauer catalog.) But, you are still too far to the Right.

Jeremy, I've read mainly your political commentary. And, it strikes me as far Right. In fact, I've been waiting for you to say something I don't consider too far out. I have some Right bloggers on my blogroll (ask Scott Pepper) and was looking for some new ones.

For a little more on the Nolan Chart, see this link: and for a little more on David Nolan, the founder of Libertarianism, see here . It is my understanding that he left the republican party in response to Vietnam.

MD,

Hoofah? I certainly lean to the right, but I don't think I channel Rush Limbaugh...I've blogged on the silliness of our oil-obsessed economy, about the wisdom of efficient vehicles, I've reviewed an eclectic bunch of music and books. Sure, I've hit some republican talking points, but every diagnostic exam, foolish and limited as they are, that I've taken, has put me near the center, for what little it's worth.

I've also attempted to have reasonable dialogue with those with whom I disagree. Rush Limbaugh? Sheesh. I've listened to RL maybe 15 minutes in the last ten years :). I've probably listened to Howard Stern more than that (though not a whole lot more...)

For what it's worth, I discovered the quiz from Mike Badnarik's site at
www.badnarik.org. What does that make me?

I appreciate your insight some of the time, but let's be fair to eachother and not pigeonhole so much...

The quiz was created by a libertarian who is actually a Right Winger. (Most libertarians seem to be Right Wingers with a gripe about some aspect of the GOP.) I didn't find it convincing. Too slanted. Early in my blogging days, I hosted a discussion of the whole 'centrism' idea. What emerged was a belief by many on the Right that they can be opposed to civil rights legislation, abortion, environmental regulation, taxation, etc., and still be 'centrists.' Here in the blogosphere, Rick Heller's Centrist Coalition has given the word some meaning. But, I think most libertarians would dismiss them as leftists.

Jeremy, everything I've ever read by you has been lockstep Republican talking points. Sometimes, you seem to channel Rush Limbaugh. I don't understand why you think you are a centrist. Oh, let me guess. Rush is centrist, too.

If Bush is anti-Libertarian, then you might be correct. If Wizbang was anti-Libertarian, then you are definately correct.
