Second Heat
(AOR Heaven)

Second Heat produce hook laden melodic hard-rock with prog elements, not unlike a band like Ten, before they went all concept album. As would be expected with this sort of music, keyboards play a huge part in the tunes on this 10-song collection. It is the band's debut and shows a great deal of promise; especially on track like 'What Am I gonna Do'. There are places where the music is a wee bit shaky, but over all this is a solid slab of melodic rock. If anything the prog-lite feeling of this release is one of its downsides. Catchiness abounds and repeated listens are very rewarding. This lot are surely a band to keep an eye on. If the new Europe has you feeling disappointed why not give this lot a try?

Rating: 3.5

Marty's band, Growing Old Disgracefully, can be found on: CD Baby His Cthulhu tales can be found at Temple of Dagon.
