Rapper Beanie Sigel (real name Dwight Grant) has been sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty to illegally possessing a handgun. He was arrested on gun possession charges back in 2002 after fleeing from police who had stopped his car. During the chase he threw away a loaded gun. Given his previous criminal record it was illegal for Beanie to be in possession of the fire arm, and as such he now faces a year in jail, with a further two years on probation and a $25,000 fine...How much Sigel is a changed man will be put to the test again in the New Year when the rapper goes back to court to face charges that he shot and seriously wounded a man outside a Philadelphia bar, and additional charges that he punched a man in the face.
This latest tale from the rap word comes via CMU. One does wonder if a normal "man off the street" would have gotten such lenient treatment from a judge.
